Dynamics for Design is the integration of recent advances in modeling and system dynamics—including the role of nonlinearities, vibration analysis, multibody systems, and computational dynamics—with current design methodologies, leading to improved performance of complex, dynamic engineering systems in terms of reduced design cycle times, improved system reliability, and consistent behavior across operating environments. The 1st Biennial International Conference on Dynamics for Design (DFD) provides a forum to disseminate ongoing work, for example aiming to develop and demonstrate practical protocols, methodologies, and tools that serve to incorporate dynamics at an early stage in the design process.University-industry collaboration resides at the core of these efforts, and the conference is a collaborative home for this technological discipline. The DFD conference is co-sponsored by the ASME Technical Committee on Multibody Systems and Nonlinear Dynamics and the ASME Technical Committee on Vibration and Sound, both within the Design Engineering Division.
