Recent Advances on Sensor and Actor NetworksIn recent years, Sensor and Actor Network (SANET) research has received an increasing amount of attention from researchers in academia, government laboratories and industry. This research activity has borne some fruit in tackling some of the challenging problems of SANET that are still open. This special session will be designated for reporting recent research results in sensor and actor networks, their challenging problems and their applicability to many pertinent areas of industrial and commercial importance such as security and surveillance, environment monitoring, industrial process control, pipeline monitoring, humanitarian demining, health care and home intelligence. Topics include but are not limited to:Sensor and actor network architecturesSelf-organization in sensor and actor networksSensors localizationStrategic sensor placementMobile sensor deploymentTask allocation in sensor and actor networksMulti-sensor managementSensor-actor coordination and actor-actor coordinationCooperative object/event detection and trackingMulti-sensor data fusionHard and soft data fusionSensor network securityIntelligent sensorsInteroperability and accessibility in sensor and actor networksOrganizersAlaa Khamis, PhD, SMIEEE, Associate Editor of International Journal of Robotics and AutomationRabie Ramadan, PhDPaper SubmissionPapers should be submitted electronically. For further details, please consult the conference paper submission web page. When you submit your paper, please select “SS-1: Recent Advances on Sensor and Actor Networks ” from the “Topics” list in the submission page. All articles will undergo a rigorous review process. Accepted papers will be published in the conference CDROM and on the IEEE Xplore. Extended version of accepted papers will be recommended for publication in a special issue of International Journal of Robotics and Automation about Sensor and Actor Networks.
