Dear Colleagues,

As host and local organizer of the Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference 2012 (PACCON 2012), held at The Empress Hotel Chiang Mai in Chiang Mai of Thailand, from January 11-13, 2012, under the auspices of the Chemical Society of Thailand (CST), it is our great pleasure and honor to be able to invite you cordially to join us at this conference.

Chiang Mai University, now in its 48th year, was first provincial university to be established in Thailand outside the capital Bangkok. The Chemistry Department is in the Faculty of Science which was one of the first 3 founding faculties in 1964. Since that time, the Chemistry Department has grown to be the largest single department in the university. In keeping with the interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum, we are planning to widen the scope of PACCON 2012. Our special team has set a program to reflect the central role and importance of Chemistry to a myriad of interrelated and cutting-edge fields of discovery. With the theme, "Chemistry Beyond Boundaries", PACCON 2012 will include all traditional areas of Chemistry and also offers other related disciplines and how its combinations with these other disciplines are widening scientific horizons and leading to exciting new discoveries.

PACCON 2012 provides an international forum whereby chemistry oriented scientists from around the world can meet and present their work alongside nationally and internationally renowned scientists. The Conference comprises both oral and poster presentations in English with optional publication of full papers in the conference proceedings. We hope that this will inspire our young chemists especially to achieve great things in the future.

In addition to the exciting range of scientific programs, all our participants will have a chance to enjoy the charm of Chiang Mai which is a wonderful city of Thailand with rich traditional and speciality culture. There will also be social programs to experience the natural beauty and unique culture of both the city and province of Chiang Mai. Highly motivated organizing committee members of PACCON 2012 are dedicated to making this conference both unforgettable and scientifically exceptional. We aim to make it special and for that we need your participation.

We are all looking forward to seeing you in the early 2012 which is the most pleasant time in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
