    This course will introduce attendees to the basic rules sponsors of group insurance programs must follow. Any employer that sponsors a group insurance program must follow certain rules. This course will cover which employers must follow which rules and introduce the attendees to the various rules.

    Why Should you Attend:

    To learn about the rules that must be followed. Employers are subject to monetary penalties for failing to follow most rules. Employees who misuse protected health information are subject to imprisonment.

    Objectives of the Presentation:

    This course will introduce attendees to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Section 125 (cafeteria plans), COBRA group health plan continuation rules, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, health care reform, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Newborns and Mothers Health Protection Act (NMHPA), the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA), the rules governing Qualified Medical Child Support Orders (QMCSOs), reporting and disclosure rules related to Medicare Part D, the Mental Health Parity Act and the notice requirements and special enrollment rules related to State Children’s Health Insurance Plans.

    Who can Benefit:

    People new to the field of employee benefits or people desiring a refresher on the rules, including, human resource generalists, benefit administrators, insurance agents and brokers and employees of insurance companies.
