Call for Book Chapters: Optimizing Assistive Technologies for Aging Population April 30, 2014: Proposal Submission DeadlineJune 15, 2014: Notification of AcceptanceJuly 15, 2014: Full Chapter SubmissionSeptember 15, 2014: Review Results ReturnedNovember 30, 2014: Final Chapter SubmissionDecember 30, 2014: Final DeadlineEditorsProf. Yosry Morsi (Swinburne University of Technology, Australia)Prof. Anupam Shukla (ABV- Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, India)Dr. Chandra Prakash Rathore (ABV- Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, India)IntroductionThe Advances in Medical Technologies and Clinical Practice (AMTCP) Book Series brings together the most recent research on the latest technology used in areas of nursing informatics, clinical technology, biomedicine, diagnostic technologies, and more. Researchers, students, and practitioners in this field will benefit from this fundamental coverage on the use of technology in clinical practices.鄭ging Assistive Technology refers to a broad range of devices, services, strategies, and practices that are conceived and applied to ameliorate the complications confronting elderly population who have aging related diseases which hinders their day to day activities. Aging associated diseases are mainly related to complications arising from senescence and are substantially diverse from the aging process itself. These diseases include cardiovascular disease, arthritis, cataracts, osteoporosis, type-2 diabetes, hypertension, Parkinson, Alzheimer's disease, loss of hearing etc.The elderly represent the fastest-growing segment of the developed world. Developing countries also facing a huge increase in the elderly population estimated to be more than double the one in developed nations. It is understood that even without any serious disease aging process affects the mobility of the person and his or her ability to carry out normal activities alone. The world痴 efforts to prevent and effectively treat various diseases in general must include elderly population and take into account their special needs and concerns.Aging assistive advanced technologies like stem cell and tissue engineering applications, advanced ICT technologies, soft computing tools and specifically designed devices etc. can make substantial difference in the daily lives of elderly people. ObjectiveObjective of the publication is to elaborate difficulties, disabilities, and diseases in elderly populations due to senescence, and to explore various options available to mitigate those using aging assistive devices, services, technologies. Although, aging assistive devices are already available, still a large problem arises from the mismatch between the person and the assistive technology devices, and inadequate training of the person with the devices. This book targets exploring application of aging of all aspects of assistive advanced technologies current and future developments which can not only make life easier for the elderly population who need help carrying out their daily activities, but, also improve quality of life, safety and maintain sense of independence in them.Target AudienceTechnology developers, academicians, researchers, advanced-level students, and subject matter experts shall find the book useful in furthering their research exposure pertinent to advanced aging assistive technologies. In addition, the book intends to be extensively used by the elderly population, doctors, aging assistive device manufacturers, and sales professionals. This book proposes a multidisciplinary approach that can be used in several contexts.Recommended TopicsキElderly Population, Difficulties, Disabilities, Diseases and AssistanceキCognitive Fitness and AssessmentキOptimizing aging assistive devices by application of Soft Computing ToolsキOptimizing mobility , hearing, vision and other practical aids for Elderly PopulationキRemote Patient Monitoring and OptimizationキWireless technologies and home comfort for Elderly PopulationキOptimizing Social Networking, Disease-Awareness-Treatment-Assistance for Elderly Population by use of Advanced ICT TechnologiesキMitigating/Minimizing challenges in adaptation of assistive technologies for Elderly PopulationキLife Span Extension Research and Public: Societal Considerations DebateキApplication of Tissue Engineering and stem cell to assist elderly populationキComputer-Aided Tissue Engineering of heart valves, blood vessels, human lungs etc.キOptimizing Biomechanics Devices to Assist Elderly PopulationキOptimizing Recreational Assistance (i.e. strategies and/or equipment that enables a person to enjoy fun activities) for Elderly Population by use of Advanced ICT Technologies and Soft Computing ToolsSubmission ProcedureResearchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before April 30, 2014, a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by June 15, 2014 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by July 15, 2014. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this book.InquiriesProf. Yosry Morsi : ymorsiswin.edu.auProf. Anupam Shukla : dranupamshuklagmail.comDChandra Prakash Rathore : chandraprakashrathoregmail.com
