This workshop aims at giving a cursory look on ideas on several aspects connected with collection and analysis of Big Data, computational aspects in analysis of Big Data in Bioinformatics. It will compile ideas from researchers to share their original research results, practical experiences and thoughts on big data in bioinformatics from different perspectives. We are interested in panoramic view of data landscape including storage models, data access, computing paradigms, analytics, information sharing and privacy, redesigning mining algorithms, open issues, and future research trends. It is envisaged to additionally offer fertile ground for collaborations among researchers, institutions and industries. The topics of the workshop include but are not limited to:Machine learning and AI techniques in high-volume and high velocity biological dataBiomarker discovery from large Omics datasetsSystems biology using next-generation sequencing dataText mining of medical records or biological text including social mediaStructural bioinformaticsNetwork biology and medicineIn silico modelling of drug discovery using high-throughput molecular connectivity mapping data and Omics dataScalable algorithms and techniques for Big Data analytics in molecular biologyStatistical and integrative approaches to Big Data biologyHigh performance computing methods and software for Big Data biologySoftware and hardware foundations for managing Big Data in biomedical informaticsAny other topics involving data mining of large-scale biological data
