    Overview:

“The future belongs to individuals and companies who embrace the entrepreneurial spirit, whether that is inside or outside a company. The fundamental question is what is going to have people get motivated and inspired to make their highest contribution? What is going to get them fired up to do what they came here to do?” From “The Rise of the Intrapreneur”, Fast Company.

The answer is intrapreneurship: a set of practices that allow employees to work within a company in an entrepreneurial capacity focusing their energy and passion on creating new products and services; expanding your brand into different markets; or improving existing processes to be more customer friendly.

Intrapreneurship practices are a response to today’s rapidly changing marketplace. Many businesses have internal units dedicated to Rand D and new product and market development. However, they now realize the need for a faster response to the challenges of a constantly changing environment and customer needs.

As a company grows it naturally becomes more bureaucratic. For employees who are highly motivated, resourceful, and self-reliant –especially the millennial generation - a bureaucratic environment can be stifling. This can result in your key talent moving on to greener pastures. To prevent this brain drain, companies are now creating a culture and incentives that allow for the entrepreneurial spirit within their existing business operations.

    Why Should You Attend:

The rise of intrapreneurship is driven in part by a restless, younger workforce eager to make a real impact with their careers. The Deloitte Millennial Survey released in January 2014 found that 70% of millennials see themselves working independently at some point rather than being employed within a traditional organizational structure.

It also found that the top reason why millennials leave their companies after two years is because of a lack of career opportunities. A big reason for that is that millennials want things companies aren’t currently giving them: autonomy, creativity, and meaning.

Intrapreneurship programs are one solution to solve this retention problem, especially for millennials who will become 36% of the American workforce by next year and 46% by 2020. Therefore, if companies give their talent something to focus on and projects to own, they will stay and help their company move forward.

Also, intrapreneurs are the drivers of innovation within companies. In a similar role to that of entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs seek to provide solutions to unique market driven problems. They look forproducts, technologies and applications that resolve barriers to productivity and customer satisfaction increases. An intrapreneur, in the most basic sense, is a skilled problem solver that can take on important tasks within a company to increase its performance and profitability.
