Welcome to the official website of 2018 4th International Symposium on Manufacturing Science and Engineering (ISMSE 2018), scheduled from 12 to 14, October, 2018. ISMSE 2018 is organized by Hong Kong Society of Mechanical Engineers.

The aim as well as objective of ISMSE 2018 is to present the latest research and results of scientists related to Manufacturing Science and Engineering topics. This conference provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas face-to-face, to establish business or research relations as well as to find global partners for future collaborations. We hope that the conference results will lead to significant contributions to the knowledge in these up-to-date scientific fields.

The focus of the conference is to establish an effective platform for institutions and industries to share ideas and to present the works of scientists, engineers, educators and students from all over the world. The organizing committee of conference is pleased to invite prospective authors to submit their original manuscripts to ISMSE 2018.

●Publication and Indexing

1. All the registered and presented papers will be published in the volume of IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering(ISSN: 1757-899X), which will be indexed by EI Compendex, Scopus, Thomson Reuters (WoS), Inspec, and other indexing organizations.

2.All high quality papers will be selected for a full paper submission for a special issue of Micromachines (ISSN 2072-666X), which will be indexed by SCIE, EI compendex, Scopus, web of science and other databases．

3.Selected excellent presented papers with extension will be recommended to publish in the Special Issue of Fluids (ISSN 2311-5521),which will be indexed by CAS, DOAJ, INSPEC (IET) and other databases.

●ISMSE 2018 Speakers

1.Prof. Ruxu Du,The Chinese University of Hong Kong, HK

Dr. R. Du was born in China in 1955. He received his Master’s degree from the South China University of Technology in 1983 and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan in 1989. He has taught in the University of Windsor, in Windsor, Ontario and University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida. Currently, he is a professor in the Dept. of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He is also the director the Institute of Precision Engineering of CUHK and the director of the Guangzhou Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Advanced Technology. His area of research include: design and manufacturing (metal forming, machining, plastic injection molding and etc.), as well as energy and materials. He has published 6 books and over 400 papers in various academic journals and international conferences.

2.Prof. Ian McAndrew,Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, UK

Prof. Ian McAndrew: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering ; M.Sc. in Manufacturing MA in Education Management ; Pg.D. in Education Training; B.A. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering; B.A. in Production Engineering Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers. Dr McAndrew spent 12 years in industry as a designer before entering academia. He has over 20 years of teaching experience in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Far East. He has supervised many PhD students and published extensively for over 20 years. He is the author of a book and Editor of a new Journal being produced with a focus on Aviation. Currently he is the Department Chair of Graduate Studies in the College of Aeronautics Worldwide at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. His research interests are in Aerodynamics and Effective Education, which he has published extensively. He has presented at many Conferences and believes these are critical research meetings for those that are new to research and the experienced to mentor the next generation.

3.Prof. Mohd Hamdi Bin Abd Shukor, University of Malaya, Malaysia

Professor Dr. Mohd Hamdi was born in Muar, Johor in 1971. He received his B.Eng. (Mechanical), with Honours from Imperial College, London in 1994 and his M.Sc. In Advanced Manufacturing Technology & System Management from University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (UMIST) in 1996. His Doctoral study was in the field of thin film coating for biomedical applications for which he was conferred s D. Eng by Kyoto University in 2003. Professor Dr. Mohd Hamdi started his academic career at University of Malaya in 1994 as a Tutor and later joined the Department of Engineering Design & Manufacture as a lecturer and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007 and Full professor in October 2010, at the age of 39. Professor Dr. Mohd Hamdi has devoted his career in nurturing research and innovation and has mentored over 112 postgraduate students, particularly in the field of machining, materials processing and biomaterials. He has authored more than 150 ISI journals and h-index of 14. He is also a founder of Centre of Advanced Manufacturing & Materials Processing (AMMP Centre) in 2003, in which has grown from modes
