IEEE AIME2011: The First IEEE International Workshop on Interactive Ambient Intelligence Multimedia Environments (AIME)In conjunction with IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME 2011), Spain, BarcelonaDownload CfP (.PDF)Topics of interestTopics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:Multi-modality, the ability of ad-hoc utilization of various categories of sensors (camera, microphone, accelerometer, etc.) for recognition of gesture, voice, mimic, and haptic inputMultimedia, multi-modal output coordination, dynamic distribution of multi-modal representations/dialogues among available multimedia devicesMulti-device interaction, the ability of using any available interaction device to control any other device, such as multimedia equipment, household appliances, or lecture room infrastructure.Smart Multimedia sensors, the ability to capture, store, and process audio and video signals for situation recognition and implicit interaction purposes. This specially includes human activity recognition and monitoring as well as socially-aware multimediaHuman-centric interaction, natural interaction for allowing users an easy access to multimedia environments (search, exploration, manipulation and control of media and devices), touch and gesture based interfaces, 3D displays and audio immersive systems for augmented-reality.Co-existence, metaphors and coordination algorithms for distributed conflict management, mechanisms that allow users an explicit interaction with adaptive environments.Transparency and Predictability, visualization and animation of sensing activities, decisions, and implicit interactions of ambient intelligent systems, which allows users to understand and predict the behaviour of the system.Device independency, device-independent realization of multi-modal interaction, such as voice and gesture recognition.Content streaming, voice communication, 3D content streaming, etc.Evaluation issues, how to evaluate the added-value of multimedia assisted interaction compared to other advanced approaches for ambient interaction, e.g., video-based gesture interaction vs. hardware-based gestures.Implementation issues, novel approaches to effectively manage the complexity of development, Real-time, de-centralized media-processing architectures, Middleware architectures for sensor and multimedia integration.Applications, Ambient advertising and persuasive technologies, ambient games, ambient intelligent environments for education, Ambient presentation of arts and cultural heritage,Paper selection process:Papers submitted to AIME must not have been previously published and must not be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are invited to submit a full paper (two-column format, up to 6 pages, including figures and tables) according to the guidelines available on the conference website at www.icme2011.org. Reviewing will be double blind. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Papers will be reviewed with an emphasis on potential to contribute to the state-of-the-art in the field. Each paper will receive at least two reviews. Selection criteria include accuracy and originality of ideas, clarity and significance of results, and presentation quality. All papers accepted will appear in the main conference proceedings and will be included in the IEEE Xplore Library.Accepted paper are eligible to submit an extended version of their work to a special issue in Springer's Multimedia Tools and Applications.Important Dates:Submission Deadline: 20.02.2011Acceptance Notification: 10.04.2011Camera Ready: 20.04.2011Workshop Date: 11.07.2011Contact:Ali Asghar Nazari Shirehjini: ali.nazari [at] discover.uottawa.ca
