We are students from National Taiwan University (NTU), Taipei Taiwan. We are holding an international symposium, Global Initiatives Symposium in Taiwan 2011(GIS Taiwan), which will take place during July 11th to 15th, 2011, on the campus of National Taiwan University. The topic this year is “What is the Catch Catching at Web？” After 20 years of evolvement, the Internet has extensively developed and made a great impact on the human life styles. Brand new Internet applications are constantly invented. Those applications, while benefiting human lives in various ways, are posting controversial issues as well.

Delegates are invited to brainstorm strategies with three subtopics: “Killer Apps and the Soft Power of Nations”, “Who Controls the Internet?” and “Individual Agents on the Internet.”In addition to workshops, keynote speeches and essay exhibition, we also offer fascinating cultural explorations of the famous boutiques and night markets in Taipei City as well as a visit to the National Palace Museum. Your accommodation and meals during the conference are on the house, and even part of your traveling cost is on us!

Students who want to apply are required to submit an essay before March 4th, 2011. Last year we recruited over 120 participants from about 20 countries. Nonetheless we still wish to attract even more outstanding youngsters with aspiration and innovation from across the globe to take part in this symposium.
