Call For Papers - CFP
Call for PapersECBS 200916th Annual IEEE International Conference and Workshop on the Engineering of Computer Based Systems (ECBS)April 13-16, 2009Location: San Francisco, CA, USA Co-located with CPS WeekPaper submission: Nov. 10, 2008URL: http://www.ece.usu.edu/ecbs09Mastering the Complexity of Computer-Based SystemsCONFERENCE AND WORKSHOPS: ECBS 2009 will be the 16th formal IEEEsponsored meeting dedicated to formulating and advancing methods, techniques andtools for the engineering of computer-based systems. The conference isdevoted to the design, development, deployment, and analysis of complex systemswhose behavior is largely determined or controlled by computers. Such systemsare characterized by functional, performance, and reliability requirementsthat mandate the tight integration of information processing and physicalprocesses. ECBS encompasses many facets: system modeling, requirementsspecification, simulation, architectures, communications, safety, security, reliability, software, hardware, human computer interfacing, system integration, verification and validation and project management. Effectively, ECBS spans andintegrates several engineering disciplines including software, hardware, andcommunications into a complete engineering discipline. The conference provides a bridge between industry and academia; theprogram will provide a balanced view of academic research and industrialdevelopments. Papers are sought which reflect this theme in fundamental ECBStechnologies, or application domains listed below, and integrate them with a system'sperspective.o Adaptive Computingo Architectureso Autonomic Systemso Co-designo Component-Based System Designo Design Evolutiono Distributed Systems Designo ECBS Infrastructure (Tools, Environments)o Education & Trainingo Embedded Real-Time Software Systemso Formal Methodso Lifecycle Processes and Process Evolutiono Integration Engineeringo Model-Based System Developmento Modeling and Analysis of Complex Systems o Open Systemso Product-Families Models and Architectureso Reengineering & Reuseo Reliability, Safety, Dependability, Securityo Requirements Elicitation and Analysiso Standardso System on a Chipo System Assessment, Testing and Metricso Verification & ValidationReports of practical solutions, trends and new system characteristicsfor ECBSs may include application domains such as: Aerospace Systems,Command and Control, Continuous and Discrete Manufacturing, Environmental Systems,Instrumentation and Control Applications, Internet Technology and Applications, IntelligentHighway-Vehicle Systems (IHVS), Medical Systems, Telecommunication.WORKSHOPS: ECBS 2009 will feature a range of workshops, including the following1. EASe: Engineering of Autonomic Systems, seehttp://www.ulster.ac.uk/ease2. Model-Based Development of Computer-Based Systems, seehttp://www.proinf.de/mbdThe workshops include short presentations and a forum for focuseddiscussions. Traditionally for ECBS conferences, workshops are strongly connected tothe conference sessions to enable continued in-depth discussions.POSTER SESSIONS: Posters and abstracts presenting work in progress are invited for aposter session. Accepted abstracts will be published in the proceedings. Graduatestudents are especially welcome to participate. DOCTORAL SYMPOSIUM: The Doctoral Symposium provides a forum for PhD candidates to presentwork in progress and get feedback from the research community. INDUSTRIAL TRACK: The industrial track provides a forum for short papers on results of industrial research and development.SUBMISSION OF PAPERS: Full papers and doctoral symposium papers must be 6 to max 10 pages inComputer Society format, poster abstracts 1 to 2 pages, and industrial track papers 2 to 4 pages.IMPORTANT DATES:Submission of all papers: Nov 10, 2008Notification of acceptance: Dec 15, 2008Camera-ready material for publication: Jan 14, 2009Registration deadline for authors: Jan 14, 2009Submission dates for workshops may differ.
