Scope: IEA/AIE 2012 continues the tradition of emphasizing applications of applied intelligent systems to solve real-life problems in all areas including engineering, science, industry, automation & robotics, business & finance, medicine and biomedicine, bioinformatics, cyberspace, and man-machine interactions. IEA/AIE-12 will include oral paper presentations, invited speakers, and special sessions. Topics of Interest: Adaptive Control Application to Design Applications to Manufacturing Autonomous Agents Bio-informatics Case-based Reasoning Chance Discovery Intelligence Computer Vision Constraint Satisfaction Conversational Informatics Data Mining Decision Support Systems Distributed Problem Solving Evolutionary Algorithms Expert Systems Financial Applications Genetic Programming Heuristic Search Human Robot Interaction Integration Systems for Real Life Applications Intelligent Interfaces Intelligent Systems Intelligent Systems in Education Internet Applications Interaction Planning and Scheduling KBS Methodology Knowledge Management Knowledge Processing Machine Learning Meta-heuristics Model-based Reasoning Multi-Agent Systems Natural Language Processing Neural Networks Reasoning under Uncertainty Social Networks Applications Soft Computing Spatial Reasoning Speech Recognition System Temporal Reasoning Authors are invited to submit their papers in English of up to 10 pages, presenting the results of original research or innovative practical applications. Practical experiences with state-of-the-art AI methodologies are also acceptable when they reflect lessons of unique value to the conference attendees. Shorter works, up to 6 pages, may be submitted as short papers representing work in progress or suggesting possible research directions. Papers will be peer reviewed and final copies of papers for inclusion in the conference proceedings will be published by Springer-Verlag (format instructions available at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html) in their 'Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence' series. Referees will be asked to nominate papers for a Best Paper Award to be announced at the conference. All papers will be automatically considered for publication in an expanded form in selected international journals, including Applied Intelligence, Soft Computing, Evolutionary Intelligence, Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Humanized Computing.
