Call For Papers - CFP
IEEE Workshop on Mobile Computing and Networking Technologies 2009 (WMCNT09)Call for Papershttp://wmcnt09.ntua.gr/Dates: 12-14 October 2009, Saint Petersburg, Russia.Important DatesPaper submission extension up to July 12, 2009Notification of acceptance July 25, 2009Camera ready version paper submission/Author Registration August 15, 2009ScopeThe first IEEE International Workshop on Mobile Computing and NetworkingTechnologies 2009 (WMCNT09) will take place in conjunction with the IEEEInternational Conference on Ultra Modern Telecommunications (ICUMT 2009) to be heldin St. Petersburg, Russia, in October 2009. The workshop will be a day long event. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in two events covering a wide rangeof research in mobile computing and ultra modern wireless communications.OverviewThe new social, economic and technological trends having evolved worldwide such asthe increasing demand for productivity and effectiveness with the pressure torespond immediately to customer requirements have created increased need for accessto information anywhere in the world at anytime. Considering the presenttelecommunication environment, which is an amalgamation of a large number ofnetworks and administrative domains employing various access technologies, combinedwith the increased user mobility makes it difficult to promise the same grade ofservice quality at all parts of the network. The convergence of informationcommunications technology and computing is creating new demands and opportunitiesfor ubiquitous computing via wireless and mobile equipment without technologicalrestrictions. The demanding networking environment of wireless communications imposes severalchallenges in terms of network design, channel estimation, propagation and radioresource management offering a variety of high quality multimedia applications.Overcoming these issues becomes even more demanding due to non-uniform spectrumallocation, various radio resource management policies, economic concerns, thescarcity of radio resources, the inherent transmission impairments of wirelesslinks, and user mobility. The first IEEE International Workshop on Mobile Computing and NetworkingTechnologies 2009 (WMCNT09) serves as an open forum intending to promote discussionand bring together researchers, developers and engineers in both academia andindustry to exchange ideas and to submit novel unpublished works about architecture, design, implementation, analysis, measurement, performance and simulation in mobileand ubiquitous computing environments. The main purpose is to encourage research forultra modern wireless communication.Workshop TopicsAuthors are solicited to submit complete unpublished papers in the following, butnot limited to, topic areas:? QoS in wireless/mobile systems? End-to-End QoS? Mobility management in wireless networks? Modeling analysis and simulation? Wireless access techniques? Wireless propagation and channel modelling? Wireless/Mobile network architectures? Digital audio and video on wireless networks? Experimental systems and field trials? Wireless communication networks and systems? Wireless system services and applications? Security, scalability and reliability in wireless/mobile networks? Wireless / Mobile Internet? Wireless LANs and PANs? Body Wireless Networks? Wireless mesh networks? Wireless Mobile ad-hoc networks? Planning and standardization? Cognitive radio networks? Cross-layer adaptation design and optimization? Heterogeneous wireless networking? 3G, 4G, and beyond system? Systems interoperability? Radio resource management? Reliable broadcast/Multicast wireless technologies for multimedia applications? Performance evaluation of new wireless standards for high-quality entertainmentenvironmentsProceedingsThe authors are encouraged to submit full papers describing original, previouslyunpublished, complete research, not currently under review by another conference orjournal, addressing state-of-the-art research and development in all areas ofcomputer networking and data communications. All papers will be reviewed andaccepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, included in IEEEXplore (approved). Papers must be submitted electronically in the EDAS. The maximumsize of papers should be 5000 words including tables and figures. The cover pagemust contain an abstract of about 150 words, 3-5 keywords, name and affiliation ofauthor(s) as well as the corresponding author's e-mail and postal address. Authorsof selected outstanding papers will be invited to submit extended versions of theirpapers for consideration of publication in a special issue.Template and instructions on how to create your paper, available athttp://www.ieee.org/web/publications/authors/transjnl/http://www.icumt.org/subm.htmlhttp://edas.infoImportant DatesPaper submission extension up to July 12, 2009Notification of acceptance July 25, 2009Camera ready version paper submission/Author Registration August 15, 2009ContactWorkshop General Chairs:Georgios I.
