A landmark decision taken by the API Governing Body meeting held at Ahmedabad on 19th September 2010 was that the early bird registration with concessional rate should be provided to each member of API.

Hence, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite all API members, colleagues, PG students, nurses and Industry leaders pan India & Asia to the vibrant city of Kolkata to attend, participate in and benefit from the 67th Annual Conference of Association of Physicians of India in January 2012.

Kolkata is situated in eastern India on the banks of the river Hooghly (Ganga), about fifty kilometres upstream of the Bay of Bengal. The city has been fondly and justifiably described as the Cultural Centre of India, which proudly showcases a rich, deep tradition of literature, poetry, drama, music and fine arts. The city built the first ever underground Metro in India which was opened to the public in 1985. In recent years, carrying on the modernity drive Kolkata and the surrounding areas have embarked upon large scale infrastructure development, with new metro lines, highways, expressways and flyovers. Now the city boasts of a modern metropolitan area amidst lush greenery.

Weather is pleasant in January, with temperature of 25ºC during the day and 12ºC at night. Light winter/autumn clothing is generally adequate. The city has witnessed tremendous growth even in the Travel Sector, and now it provides accommodation in all categories of hotels, from luxury and deluxe to budget hotels and guest houses. Calcutta accommodation is an epitome of hospitality and comfort; the hotels are well equipped and provide the best of services. The overall ambience, facilities and food are superb.

APICON 2012 Conference will be held at the popular SCIENCE CITY, the largest science centre in the subcontinent, under the National Council of Science Museums, it consists of two facilities ? The Science Centre & The Convention Centre. Importantly, the scientific program will span the latest developments and best practice in medicine and will be delivered by renowned international, national and local speakers. The scientific program will cover not only the full curriculum of medicine, with ample choice for participants from any background and with all interests, but also ancillary subjects important to the professional and personal well-being of physicians. In addition to the scientific program, a spectacular range of social activities are being planned for all delegates and accompanying guests to experience West Bengal’s most famous sites and iconic buildings, culture and cuisine, all presented with our renowned hospitality and warm friendliness.
