The Final Call for paper of 2nd International Workshop on Future Network Model, Architecture, and Development Strategy (FADS’2010)To follow deadline extension of WORLDCOMP’ 2010, the deadline of FADS’2010 is also extended to March 22.
The FADS’10 (International Workshop on Future Network Model, Architecture, and Development Strategy) is the second international workshop focusing on models, architectures, and development strategies for next generation Internet. The first workshop, FADS’09 was held on September 12, 2009, in Madrid, Spain, jointly with BROADNET’09 Conference. FADS’10 is to be held in Las Vegas, USA, in July 2010, jointly with PDPTA’10 (International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Processing Techniques and Applications), one of the conferences of 2010 World Congress in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Applied Computing (WORLDCOMP).
FADS’10 is intended to provide a forum for researchers from academia, industry, and government to discuss challenges faced with current and future networks (Internet particular) and to exchange ideas and experiences pertinent to future network technologies. FADS’10 promotes interactive discussion on issues above of common interests. Topics for FADS’10 include but not limited to:
N Track 1- Development Strategy for NGN/NGI:
Diversity in communication techniques; feasibility of unified architecture both for backbone and access networks; patching strategy, evolution, or revolution (Clean slate architecture); and etc.
N Track 2 - Challenges to current networks and solutions for NGN/NGI (models, architectures, and techniques):
High-speed switching for optical fiber based backbone substrate; QoS insurance; reliability, scalability, availability, security; Mobility; demands of network applications on networks and etc.
Experiences learned from OSI/RM and current Internet architecture representation, and potential improvement; Impact of new trends of network applications (SOA, Cloud computing, GRID, pervasive/ ubiquitous computing, P2P, and etc.) on future network models and architectures; Pros and cons of Layered and layerless architectures for NGI/NGN; Frameworks and Experiences in development of NGI Architectures
N Track 3- Challenges for backbone substrate and new packet switching techniques for NGI:
Problems imposed by high lambda rate in optics (100 Gbps or higher) for electronic domain; granularity issues in fiber-switching or lambda-switching; E&O combined switching techniques, and etc.
All submissions must be in either MS doc (but not docx) or PDF formats (no more than 7 pages - single space, font size of 10 to 12). All reasonable typesetting formats are acceptable (the authors of accepted papers will be asked to follow a particular typesetting format to prepare their final papers). All submitted papers will go through a double-blind review process and all accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of PDPTA’10 and indexed in Inspec/IET/The Institute for Engineering and Technology, DBLP/Computer Science Bibliography, and others. The printed proceedings will be available for distribution on site at the PDPTA’10 conference. In addition, selected authors will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for publication in a number of research books being proposed/contracted with various publishers (such as, Springer, Elsevier, IOS, ...) - these books would be composed after the conference.

March 22, 2010: Submission of papers (about 5 to 7 pages)
April 15, 2010: Notification of acceptance
May 1, 2010: Final papers + Copyright + Registration
