CALL FOR CHAPTERS(Deadline March 25, 2012)Embedded and Real Time System Development: A Software Engineering Perspective : Concepts, Methods and Principleshttps://sites.google.com/site/embeddedspringer/To be published by Springer, under series "Studies in Computational Intelligence" (SCI) , www.springer.com/series/7092 . The book is Indexed by DBLP, Ulrichs, SCOPUS, MathSciNet, Current Mathematical Publications, Mathematical Reviews, Zentralblatt Math: MetaPress and Springerlink.CONTEXTNow a day’s embedded and real-time system contains complex software. In the future even more products will likely contain complex software. These embedded systems complexity is increasing, and the amount and variety of software in these products are growing. This creates a big challenge for embedded and real-time software development process. To reduce the complexity of development cycle many product development companies and researcher has paid their attention to optimize the timeliness, productivity, and quality of embedded software development and apply software engineering principles. However, software engineering principles can be applied to embedded system in its current form. Unfortunately, many available software development model don’t take into account the specific needs of embedded and systems development. The software engineering principles for embedded system should address specific constraints such as hard timing constraints, limited memory and power use, predefined hardware platform technology, and hardware costs. There is a need to develop separate metrics and benchmarks for embedded and real-time system. Thus, development of software engineering principles for embedded system and real-time system becomes an independent discipline. The objectives are to give you practical, practices as well as conceptual knowledge of the latest tools and methodology in embedded software engineering.TARGET AUDIENCEThe target audience of this book will be designers of embedded software, academician, students, practitioners, professionals and researchers working in the field of embedded and real-time system development. This book will be invaluable for theoretical analysis, algorithms and practical applications of software engineering for embedded and real-time systems.TOPICS OF INTERESTThe topics covered in the edited book will include, but not limited to:• Real Time and Embedded Software Development Process• Software Engineering Challenges for Real Time and Embedded Applications• Requirements Elicitation Approaches for Real Time and Embedded Applications• Requirement Specification and Modelling• Analysis and Design Methods for Real Time and Embedded Applications• Design Patterns• Model Driven Development• Methodologies and Tools for System Design• Compilers and CASE/CAD Tools• Frameworks for Hardware/Software co-design• System level Modelling of HW/SW Systems• Performance analysis and Measurement• Embedded Testing Standards• Testing methodologies (Simulation, Formal Methods, Board testing, FPGA testing, System-on-Chip testing etc.)• Test Quality and Reliability• Configuration Management for Real Time and Embedded Applications• Project management for Real Time and Embedded ApplicationsSUBMISSION PROCEDUREAuthors should submit via e-mail to Editors a short (1-2 pages) chapter proposal (as PDF or plain text) that contains: (1) title, (2) names and affiliation of authors, (3) abstract, (4) references of up to five most relevant publications of authors that are related to the chapter proposal, (5) chapter mission and topics intended to be covered by the chapter as well as (6) contact author information.
