Call For Papers - CFP
Extended deadline for paper submissions: 09/11/2008CALL FOR PAPERS:First Workshop on Global Sensor Networks (GSN 09)Collocated with KiVS 09 in Kassel, Germanyhttp://ipvs.informatik.uni-stuttgart.de/vs/gsn09March 6th, 2009WORKSHOP SCOPEGlobal sensor networks (GSN) are an emergent research area aiming tooffer applications easy and efficient access to sensor data at the scaleof billions of sensing devices. While a single sensor network typicallyprovides access to information of a limited geographical area andselected types of sensor data, a GSN provides an application withuniform and transparent access to a multitude of individual sensornetworks that may be geographically dispersed, aggregating andcorrelating different types of data as appropriate for the application. The challenges imposed by global sensor networks are relevant to manyfields in computer communications and distributed systems such as sensornetworks, complex event and stream processing, pervasive computing, andP2P overlays. This workshop intends to bring together researchers andpractitioners working in relevant fields in order to share ideas, challenges and visions on Global Sensor Networks as well as to fosternew cooperation.WORKSHOP TOPICSGSN?09 is looking for contributions related but not limited to thefollowing list of topics in the domain of Global Sensor Networks:- Sensor network protocols- Complex event processing- Distributed stream processing- P2P overlays- Middleware- Security- Query processing and optimization- Quality of service- ApplicationsSUBMISSION GUIDELINESPapers should be submitted in PDF format via the workshop page.Contributions may presenti) novel and possibly preliminary research results (full papers 12pages, short papers 6 pages) ,ii) position papers describing major challenges (6 pages),iii) new trends from the industry (2 pages). Each submission will be reviewed by three members of the programcommittee and are selected according to their originality, quality, and relevance to the workshop topics. Accepted papers will appear inthe KIVS Workshop proceedings. For accepted papers at least one authormust register with the workshop and give a presentation at the workshop.Submissions must follow the KIVS formatting guidelines and must notexceed the given page limits. Note that contributions in English aswell as in German are welcome.IMPORTANT DATESSubmission deadline (extended): 09/11/2008Author Notification: 30/11/2008Camera Ready: 27/12/2008ORAGNIZATIONCo-ChairsKlaus Herrmann, Universit?t StuttgartBoris Koldehofe, Universit?t StuttgartProgram CommitteeFalko Dressler (Universit?t Erlangen-N?rnberg)Wilfried Elmenreich (Universit?t Klagenfurt)Christof Fetzer (Universit?t Dresden)Stefan Fischer (Universit?t L?beck)Thomas Fuhrmann (TU M?nchen)Marcus Handte (Universit?t Bonn)Holger Karl (Universit?t Paderborn)Pedro Marron (Universit?t Bonn)Hartmut Ritter (ScatterWeb GmbH)Kay R?mer (ETH Z?rich)Jochen Schiller (FU Berlin)Stefan Weber (Trinity College, Dublin)Klaus Wehrle (RWTH Aachen)
