CALL FOR PAPERSInternational Workshop on Data Management in Ad Hoc and Pervasive ComputingMay 18-21 2009, Taipei, Taiwanin conjunction with The 10th International Conference on Mobile DataManagement (MDM'09) <http://adslab.cs.nctu.edu.tw/mdm2009/>http://hsnl.csie.cgu.edu.tw/DMAHPC2009.htm* Submission Deadline Extended to* Nov.30.2008Rapid progress in wireless communication technologies makes ad hoc andpervasive computing to be reality. To provide pervasive computing services,i.e., anytime and anywhere for everyone, mobile devices must be capable ofdoing ad hoc computing. The emergence of such computing environment changesthe way people live, work, and interact with each other, and has greatimpact on the way businesses, education, entertainment, and healthcare areoperating. Despite substantial progress in ad hoc and pervasive computingtechnologies, many challenges regarding to data management need to beovercome: scalability, processing, power management, and networkinginfrastructure. This workshop invites quality papers articulating newperspectives related to the mentioned issues. Topics that are targeted inthis workshop include, but not limited to:*Ad Hoc Computing*1. Data management in mobile ad hoc and sensor networks2. Localization and location tracking3. Power management and energy-efficient design4. Topology control and time synchronization5. Coverage problems6. Middleware and software tools7. Data gathering, aggregation and dissemination8. Embedded network-oriented operating systems9. Networking architectures and protocols10. Cross-layer architectures11. Mobility management12. Self-organization and governance13. Security and dependability issues14. Integrated system with wireless sensor and body-area networks andits applications15. Interacting with other wired/wireless/mobile networks and systems16. Vehicular ad hoc communication and networks17. Wireless sensor networks18. Modeling and performance evaluation*Pervasive Computing*1. Context-aware computing2. Intelligent devices and environments3. Interoperability and wide scale deployment4. Middleware services and agent technologies5. Personalized applications6. Service discovery mechanisms and protocols7. Software infrastructures8. System support infrastructures and services9. Ubiquitous computing systems and applications10. User interfaces and interaction models11. Wearable computing and technologies12.
