The 2009 IEEE International Workshop on HPC and Grid Applications(IWHGA2009) URL: http://ag3.hpcc.jp/IWHGA/index.htmlSanya, Hainan, P. R. China April 24 ~ 26, 2009in conjunction withThe 2009 International Symposium on Applied Computing and Computational Sciences (ACCS 2009)URL: http://www.gip.hk/cso2009/accs2009(Papers Due: November 10, 2008)Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings published byIEEE Computer Society, which is indexed by EI Compendex and ISTP. Distinguished papers accepted and presented in IWHGA2009, after furtherrevisions, will be published in the special issue of International Journal of Computational Science./////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////SCOPEHPC and Grid applications have become a highly important area because of theirpotential of solving large-scale problems on science and engineering, and thus have significant impact on the quality of all areas of life such ashealth care, the environment, energy, food safety etc. HPC and Grid applications also play an equally important role on driving the development ofcomputer architectures. In order to provide an international forum for researchers andpractioners from both fields of application and computer science to share andexchange their experiences, discuss challenges, present original ideas, andreport state-of-the-art and in-progress research results on HPC and GridApplications, IWHGA2009 is going to be held in Sanya, a Hawaii-like place in China. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: # HPC- or Grid-based E-science, E-engineering, E-economics, E-Finance etc.; # Parallelization or grid-enablement for an existing application; # Development of a new HPC or Grid application; # Libraries, middleware, and tools for parallel or Grid applications; # PSE or Workflow application for complex HPC or Grid applications; # Data-centric HPC or Grid applications; # HPC- or Grid-based visualization applications; # Experience in using a HPC or Grid application; # Fault-tolerance, low-latency, load-balancing strategies of HPC or Grid applications; # Performance tuning of conventional applications; # Performance estimation, measurement, and/or evaluation of a HPC or Grid application; # Scientific computations based on recent architectures or machines such as Cell B./E. etc.IMPORTANT DATESFull paper submission: November 10, 2008 Paper Acceptance Notification: November 30, 2008Camera-ready papers: January 1, 2009 Registration: December 1, 2008-January 1, 2009PAPER SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONSThe submitted papers must not be previously published anywhere, and must not besubmitted to any other conferences before and during the IWHGA2009 review process.
