Call For Papers - CFP
Important DatesPaper Submission Deadline: 20 November 2009Notification of Acceptance: 15 December 2009Camera Ready Copy: 10 January 2010Workshop: 22 March 2010Themes and GoalsThe theme of the workshop is updates in any data model, with an emphasis on XML and recent models.Updates issues have always been considered in many different areas of databases, as change is inherent to the lifecycle of databases and their applications. Updates arise in every data model, in many different contexts and situations, and raise numerous issues and problems. Over years, a powerful collection of approaches, concepts, techniques and algorithms has been developed. However, many problems remain open, new issues arise in recent data models like XML, semi-structured, graph-based, RDF and probabilistic among others, some widely used in practice, and updates have recently known a new gain of interest. This new interest, along with the importance in practice to deal with updates, is the reason for the workshop.Open problems in general, and new issues in recent models are the focus of the workshop. The goal of the workshop is also to stimulate discussions on reviewing existing results, possibly w.r.t. new issues, and on the connections between the different topics in update management, as well as on future trends. The workshop aims at bringing together academics, practitioners, users and vendors.Topics of InterestWe solicit submitted papers that are original contributions, from both researchers and practitioners. The scope of the workshop includes but is not limited to:Updates in any data model, and in particular XML and recent modelsUpdate languagesConflicting or inconsistent updatesIndependence between views and updates for optimizationType systems for update validationIncremental validationIncremental query evaluation and view maintenanceUpdates and provenanceProbabilistic updates and updates on probabilistic databasesDynamic constraintsSchema update languages and schema evolutionView updatesAccess control and privacy issues in the presence of updatesEffects of updates on indexing structuresImplementation issuesUpdate support in systems/productsEffects of updates on applicationsRelationships between updates and versionsRDF updatesSubmission GuidelinesPaper submission will be electronic.
