Call For Papers - CFP
p/>CALL FOR PAPERS-- Update --www.gamenets.orgInternational Conference on Game Theory for Networks13-15 May 2009, Bogazici University, Istanbul, TurkeyImportant datesSubmission deadline : November 22, 2008 (see website for details)Acceptance notification : March 1, 2009Game theory provides a formal mathematical framework to study complexinteractions among interdependent rational players. For more than half acentury, game theory has led to revolutionary developments in economics, and has also found important applications in politics, sociology, psychology, engineering, and transportation.Recently, there has been a surge in research activities that employ gametheory to model and analyze the performance of various networks, such ascommunication networks, computer networks, social networks, biologicalnetworks, molecular networks, and neural networks. There already existseveral successful examples where game theory provides deeperunderstanding of complex network dynamics and leads to better design ofefficient, scalable, and robust networks. Still, there remain manyinteresting open research problems yet to be identified and explored, andmany issues to be addressed. Moreover, studies of different networksheretofore have largely been performed independently, although in manycases it is apparent that they share many similarities in terms of problemstructures and the technical challenges they offer.GameNets 2009, which will be held on the campus of Bogazici University, inIstanbul, Turkey, on 13-15 May 2009, will bring together researchers whoapply game theory to analyze, design, and assess the performance ofnetworks. The conference will highlight synergies between various relatedresearch areas and encourage discussions regarding the benefits andlimitations of game theory as a performance assessment and design tool fornetworks. Both the application of game theory to networking problems andthe development of new game-theoretic methodologies that can be applied inthat context are of interest. The conference will feature plenary talks, organized sessions focused on specific topics, and contributed papers.GameNets topics include (but are not limited to)* Distributed network resource allocation* Trust and reputation management* Security assessment and enhancement* Dynamic spectrum assignment and management* Cognitive radio networks* Dynamic topology formation in networks* Incentives for cooperation in networks* Node mobility and route adaptation* Fairness in forwarding and medium access* Peer to peer and overlay networks* Network pricing* Multiple service provider interactions* Powerline communication networks* Electrical power networks* Formation of social networks* Biological networks* Biologically-inspired network design* Applicability and limitations of game theory in the networking domain* Algorithmic game theory* Equilibrium selection among multiple equilibria* Paradigms of bounded rationality and consequences* S-modular and potential games* Price of anarchy* Games of imperfect or asymmetric information* Learning mechanisms in games* Computation of Nash, correlated, and market equilibria* Preference elicitation and winner determination in combinatorial auctions* Stackelberg games* Cooperative game theoretical models* Multi-stage and repeated games* Mechanism designInstructions for Submission:Prospective authors are invited to submit their contributions as extendedabstracts of up to 8 pages in single-column IEEE conference format pagesin a font no smaller than 10-points, with one-and-a-half line spacing, andcontaining sufficient information to allow for a detailed review. Deadlinefor submissions is November 22, 2008, and submissions will be web based.Further information, with appropriate links and instructions will beavailable on the conference website two months before the submissiondeadline. Acceptance decisions will be sent to the authors by March 1,2009. Final versions of papers to be included in the program will be up to10 pages in double column IEEE format. A proceedings volume will beavailable at the conference, as part of the conference registrationpackage.Organizing CommitteeGeneral Chair: Tamer Basar, Univ. of Illinois at U-C, USASteering Committee Chair: Imrich Chlamtac, Create-NetSteering Committee Members:Eitan Altman, INRIA, FranceAnthony Ephremides, Univ.
