    European Rock Mechanics Symposium (Eurock 2010)

    SYMPOSIUM THEMES

    Eurock 2010 is an ISRM Regional Symposium of Europe. The Symposium covers all the aspects of rock mechanics and rock engineering, from theoretical research to engineering practice, with emphasis on applications to natural hazards prevention, infrastructural construction and sustainable development.

    CALL FOR PAPERS - Abstract Deadline Extended to 15 November 2009 !!

    Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts in various aspects of rock mechanics and rock engineering, including topics on:

    fundamental rock mechanics,

    rock dynamics and time dependent behaviour,

    laboratory/field testing and physical modelling,

    numerical modelling and testing methods,

    design methodology in rock engineering

    rock slopes and land sliding,

    rock tunnel excavation and support.

    Abstract should be of 300~500 words long, with a title, keywords list, authors' names, affiliations and email addresses. The abstract should be sent as email attachment to lmratepfl.ch by 31 August 2009 15 November 2009 (deadline extended to fall after EUROCK 2009)

    TECHNICAL PROGRAM AND VISITS

    The three-day Symposium will consist of technical program of keynote lectures, plenary and parallel technical presentations, poster sessions and technical visits.

    Technical visits include the world longest Gotthard base tunnel (57 km), and other tunnel and slope sites.

    Pre-symposium workshops and short courses will be organised on selected topics of rock mechanics and rock engineering. People interested in giving such courses should contact Jean-Paul Dudt at lmratepfl.ch.

    Post-symposium excursions and social program will be organised in conjunction with the Symposium.

    EPFL AND LAUSANNE

    EPFL (www.epfl.ch) is one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology (Lausanne and Zurich). Laboratory for Mechanics of Rocks (LMR) in EPFL was established in 1935 and will be celebrating 75th anniversary in 2010. EPFL-LMR organised the ISRM Congress in 1979.
