The 5th conference on Internet of Things and Smart Spaces ruSMART 2012August 27-28, 2012. St.-Petersburg, Russiahttp://rusmart.e-werest.org/2012.htmlCALL FOR PAPERSAbout the ConferenceNowadays we see strong demand for development of robust infrastructurefor retrieving, storing and processing information of various types, which is obtained from and delivered to the broad spectrum of differentuser devices. This is especially critical when the volume of informationincreases as rapidly as its value. As a consequence the methods andsolutions for efficient processing, reusing and reasoning over user'sdata has gained a lot of attention in the last years and became the keyaspect of application design. Further developments in this field createsa lot of opportunities to apply new business models and is a key enablerfor the concept of pro-active service. The wireless solutions have moved beyond their traditional areas ofapplication and today we can talk about a space where users can accessa number of wireless technologies and interact with various services. Also the Internet of Things disrupts limitations of Internet that useto based on human-entered data. New technologies for short-range andlow-power wireless communications, real-time localization and sensornetworks allow computers to perceive the world. Support of the futurecommercial success of IoT solutions require efficient and scalableinfrastructures for managing, sharing and processing collected data.We can see that reseach on interlinking of the physical and cyber worldsis becoming more and more relevant. This conference is targeted to bringtogether top specialist in the field to discuss ongoing studies andobtained results.Similarly, existent and future services cover the wide range of userdemands, ranging from searching and browsing contents to interactivecontext and location aware solution that explore advanced multimediacapabilities of the surrounding devices. These layers form a smartenvironment that harmonizes a number of technologies and provides thebest possible personalized user experience. Also it helps to addressa number of challenges of the modern society, starting from efficientindoor use of energy and to smart logistics and broad-scope deploymentof the green principles and technologies. This conference will exploreand explain the scope and challenges of smart space technologies andsolutions. In this regard, the conference aims to bring togetherresearch professionals from diverse fields including but not limitedto wireless communication, ubiquitous networks, software development, multimedia, services, and business in both academia and industry.Conference proceedings will be published in LNCS, Springer (confirmed)and indexed by relevant databases. The ruSMART 2012 will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia - the meetingpoint of East and West. Through its stunning architecture and wonderfulart galleries and museums, among a number of other attractions, thewealth of history of East and West can be seen and felt in thisbeautiful city.Topics of interest include but are not limited to:- Internet of Things and related technologies- Research on Smart Spaces architectures and Smart-M3 platform- Modern green technologies and Internet of Things- Heterogeneous communication technologies for smart spaces and IoT- Design of technologies for linking the physical and virtual world- Semantic web, distributed information management and processing- Novel services and applications on top of smart spaces and IoT- Role of cloud computing in smart spaces and IoT- New business models and breakthrough use cases for smart spaces and IoT- IoT enabling communication systems and network architectures- Personal and body networks, wearable computing- Wireless technologies for smart spaces- Experience of use networked things and smart spaces in healthcare, logistics, transport, etc.- Social impacts and consequences, such as security, privacy, opportunities, risks, etc.- Distributed and pervasive services, pro-active service provision- Service discovery and composition in smart environments- Convergence of technologies for smart space- Smart environments for house/office/shop/city/transport/hospital/etc- Tools for modeling and prototyping smart spaces and IoT- Heterogeneous sensor information fusion in smart space- Intelligent multi-modal user interface and impact of combined use ofvarious human-computer interface modalities- Learning technologies in smart spacesSelected authors of the best papers will be invited to submit extendedversions of their papers to be published in a special issue of a journalSensors (ISSN 1424-8220; CODEN: SENSC9) - Impact Factor: 1.821 (2009);5-Year Impact Factor: 1.903 (2009)Paper submissionThe authors are encouraged to submit full papers describing original, previously unpublished, complete research, not currently under reviewby another conference or journal, addressing state-of-the-art researchand development in all areas of computer networking and datacommunications.
