9th International Conference of the Learning Sciences
    June 29 - July 2 2010 (preconference June 28 - 29 2010)
at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, Chicago, IL
The ICLS 2010 conference theme, Learning in the Disciplines, invites you to explore the ways disciplinary perspectives can inform the study of learning in educational settings, workplaces, and other contexts. This conference will bring together scholars from a range of disciplines with researchers in the sciences of learning, instruction, and design. These diverse perspectives will be brought together to address questions of how we can better understand and improve learning.
The Program Committee is pleased to announce keynote addresses by three distinguished scholars:
Dr. Carl Wieman: Distinguished Professor of Physics, University of Colorado and University of British Columbia; 2001 Nobel Laureate in Physics and 2004 United States Professor of the Year.
Dr. Koeno Gravemeijer: Professor of Science and Technology Education at the Eindhoven School of Education of the Eindhoven University of Technology
Dr. Pamela Grossman: Nomellini-Olivier Professor of Education, Stanford University
Chicago, IL, the third largest city in the United States with over 2.8 million people, has numerous nicknames the best known of which are the "Windy City" and the "City of Big Shoulders.” Located along the shores of Lake Michigan, it offers a splendid summer setting for our international conference. Often mentioned as the home of celebrities and politicians, including Barack Obama, Chicago is also home to many famed cultural institutions, historic architecture, diverse neighborhoods, great restaurants, and a friendly charm seldom seen in urban centers.
