DASFAA 2009 PhD Workshophttp://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~dasfaa09phd/April 20, 2009, Brisbane,AustraliaThe DASFAA PhD workshop aims to bring together PhD students working on topics related to the DASFAA conference series. The workshop will offer PhD students the opportunity to present, discuss, and receive feedback on their research in a constructive and international atmosphere.We encourage PhD students to submit short papers describing theirdoctorial work to this workshop. The paper should clearly formulate the research problem, detail the current solutions to this problem, explain why the existingwork isnot sufficient and the proposed work is significant in the field ofresearch,and give some indication of new solutions the student is proposing. Theworkdoes not need to be complete, and PhD students at all stages arewelcome.The submission is expected to be significantly different from any othersubmissions by the authors. The first author of the submission must be astudent,and the expected duration of the PhD thesis and the current stage of thework haveto be indicated in the submission.The first author of an accepted paper is expected to attend theworkshop, presentthe paper and lead the discussionTopics of InterestsTopics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following.- Query Languages and Query Optimization- Data Quality and Incomplete Data- Multidatabases and Federated Databases- Multimedia Databases- Security and Integrity maintenance- Internet and WWW Data Management- Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery- Digital Libraries- Statistical and Scientific Databases- User Interfaces- Parallel and Distributed Databases- Temporal, Spatial and Mobile Databases- Data Warehouses- Active Databases and Applications- Concurrent Control and Data Recovery- Data Streams- Information Retrieval and Database Systems- P2P and Grid-Based Data Management- Metadata and Semantic Web- Sensor Data Management- Business Process Management- XML Databases- E-Commerce- New Database Applications- Web ServicesPaper SubmissionOnly active PhD students are eligible to submit the topics restricted totheirdoctoral work to the workshop.
