Call For Papers - CFP
7th IEEE Workshop on Model-Based Development for ComputerBased Systems - Linking Views and Levels of Abstractionswithin the 16th Annual IEEE International Conference and Workshop on the Engineering of Computer Based Systems (ECBS) Part of the MBD Workshop SeriesCall for PapersSuccessful application of model based development in domains like business information systems or embedded systems has demonstrated its practical relevance. However, with the shift to complex models with a long-term evolution, issues related to the reuse of models gain importance for practical application of model based development, including partitioning and maintaining models and managing their change. Adequate modelling techniques mustsupport a modularization of models into different views and levels of abstractions, ease localized changes without disturbing the integrity of the mode, enable analysing the impact of changes on the model as a whole, facilitate versioning (parts of) models maintaining the overall consistency, ensure aspects like understandability and maintainability andintegrate profiles supporting specific application domains (e.g., automation, business processes, web services),to provide a practical application of model based development. This workshop focuses on the scientific and practical aspects of model based development (models, processes, methods, and tools) for supporting the construction of computer based systems, with a focus on evolution and management of model. Topics of the workshop include:Model evolution and maintenanceModel versioning and product lines of modelsModel transformation and reengineeringModel-based validation and verificationModels in the system engineering processModel partitioning in relation to system architecture and project structureQuality assurance for modelsIntegration of different modelsTool support for model-based developmentCase studies and application of model-based developmentExperiences of using models and relating models with their applications in the real-world development process.Format:To enable a maximum of interaction and discussion between the participants, the workshop will be held as a combination of two parts. First, the full papers are presented including a short discussion after each presentation. In the second part, short position statements are given, as introduction to a panel discussion by the speakers, to initiate a workshop discussion with all attendees.Submission:To support the workshop character, three classes of contributions are sought:Full papers as regular technical contributions (6 to max 10 pages, IEEE Computer Society Format) to be reviewed in a double-blind reviewing process and published in the IEEE CS conference proceedings upon acceptance.Industrial research and experience reports (4 to max 10 pages, IEEE Computer Society Format) to be reviewed in a double-blind reviewing process and published in the IEEE CS conference proceedings upon acceptance.Position papers as short problem statements, research questions, or experience reports may be 2 to 10 pages in the same format. They will be accepted if they contribute to the goals of the workshop, especially if they inspire the workshop discussions. They will be published online using a permalink reachable from the MBD workshop website. The papers are to be submitted as PDF via the EasyChair system which is used for managing the reviewing process. Details will follow shortly.Workshop Website http://www.theoinf.tu-ilmenau.de/~riebisch/mbd/ Conference Website http://www.ece.usu.edu/ecbs09/Important Dates:Submission of full papers: 6th Dec 2008 Notification of acceptance: 21st Dec 2008 Camera-ready paper version: 15th Jan 2009 Submission of position papers: 15th Mar 2009 Workshop at ECBS2009: 16th April 2009 Organizing Committee:Matthias Riebisch, TU Ilmenau, Germany Bernhard Schaetz, TU Munich, Germany Programme Committee: - confirmation partly pending -Christian Erfurth, University Jena, Germany Bas Graaf, TU Delft, The Netherlands John Leaney, University of Technology Sydney, Australia Jing Janet Liu, Iowa State University, IA, USA Zafar I.
