p/>Call for ContributionsICPE 20189th ACM/SPEC International Conference on Performance EngineeringSponsored by ACM SIGMETRICS, SIGSOFT, and SPEC RGBerlin, GermanyApril 9-13, 2018Web: https://icpe2018.spec.org/Twitter: https://twitter.com/ICPEconf/IMPORTANT DATESResearch and industrial/experience abstracts: Oct 16, 2017Research and industrial/experience papers: Oct 18, 2017Research and industrial/experience paper notification: Dec 8, 2017Artifact registration: Dec 15, 2017Artifact submission: Dec 22, 2017Artifact notification: Feb 7, 2018Work-in-progress/vision papers: Jan 10, 2018Work-in-progress/vision paper notification: Feb 8, 2018Poster/demo submission: Jan 3, 2018Poster/demo notification: Jan 26, 2018Dates for tutorials, workshop proposals, and doctoral symposium will beannounced (see also https://icpe2018.spec.org/important-dates/).SCOPE AND TOPICSThe goal of the International Conference on Performance Engineering(ICPE) is to integrate theory and practice in the field of performanceengineering by providing a forum for sharing ideas and experiencesbetween industry and academia. Nowadays, complex systems of all types, like Web-based systems, data centers and cloud infrastructures, socialnetworks, peer-to-peer, mobile and wireless systems, cyber-physicalsystems, the Internet of Things, real-time and embedded systems, haveincreasingly distributed and dynamic system architectures that providehigh flexibility, however, also increase the complexity of managingend-to-end application performance.ICPE brings together researchers and industry practitioners to share andpresent their experiences, discuss challenges, and reportstate-of-the-art and in-progress research on performance engineering ofsoftware and systems, including performance measurement, modeling, benchmark design, and run-time performance management. The focus is bothon classical metrics such as response time, throughput, resourceutilization, and (energy) efficiency, as well as on the relationship ofsuch metrics to other system properties including but not limited toscalability, elasticity, availability, reliability, and security. This year's main theme is “continuous performance assurance in agiledelivery”.Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:Performance modeling of software* Languages and ontologies* Methods and tools* Relationship/integration/tradeoffs with other QoS attributes* Analytical, simulation and statistical modeling methodologies* Model validation and calibration techniques* Automatic model extraction* Performance modeling and analysis toolsPerformance and software development processes/paradigms* Software performance patterns and anti-patterns* Software/performance tool interoperability (models and datainterchange formats)* Performance-oriented design, implementation and configurationmanagement* Software Performance Engineering and Model-Driven Development* Gathering, interpreting and exploiting software performanceannotations and data* System sizing and capacity planning techniques* (Model-driven) Performance requirements engineering* Relationship between performance and architecture* Collaboration of development and operation (DevOps) for performance* Performance and agile methods* Performance in Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA)* Performance of microservice architectures and containersPerformance measurement, monitoring and analysis* Performance measurement and monitoring techniques* Analysis of measured application performance data* Application tracing and profiling* Workload characterization techniques* Experimental design* Tools for performance testing, measurement, profiling and tuningBenchmarking* Performance metrics and benchmark suites* Benchmarking methodologies* Development of parameterizable, flexible benchmarks* Benchmark workloads and scenarios* Use of benchmarks in industry and academiaRun-time performance management* Use of models at run-time* Online performance prediction* Autonomic resource management* Utility-based optimization* Capacity managementPower and performance, energy efficiency* Power consumption models and management techniques* Tradeoffs between performance and energy efficiency* Performance-driven resource and power managementPerformance modeling and evaluation in different environments andapplication domains* Web-based systems, e-business, Web services* Big data systems, deep-learning systems, and other data analyticssystems* Internet of Things* Social networks* Cyber-physical systems* Industrial Internet (Industry 4.0)* Virtualization and cloud computing* Autonomous/adaptive systems* Transaction-oriented systems* Communication networks* Parallel and distributed systems* Embedded systems* Multi-core systems* Cluster and grid computing environments* High performance computing* Event-based systems* Real-time and multimedia systems* Low-latency systems* Peer-to-peer, mobile and wireless systemsAll other topics related to performance of software and systems.SUBMISSION GUIDELINESAuthors are invited to submit original, unpublished papers that are notbeing considered in another forum. A variety of contribution styles forpapers is solicited including: basic and applied research papers fornovel scientific insights, industrial and experience papers reporting onapplying performance engineering or benchmarks in practice, andwork-in-progress/vision papers for ongoing innovative work. Differentacceptance criteria apply based on the expected content of theindividual contribution types.Authors will be requested to self-classify their papers according totopic and contribution style when submitting their papers.Submissions to all tracks need to be uploaded to ICPE's submissionsystem and conform to the ACM submission format. For detailed submissioninstructions, please visit: https://icpe2018.spec.org/submissions.html.At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register atthe full rate, attend the conference and present the paper. Presentedpapers will be published in the ICPE 2018 conference proceedings thatwill be published by ACM and included in the ACM Digital Library.Authors of accepted research papers are invited to submit an artifact tothe ACM/SPEC ICPE 2018 Artifact Track. The highest quality papers, judged by multiple relevant factors, will berecognized with an award. Authors of selected papers will be invited tosubmit an extended version of their work to a journal.AUTHORS TAKE NOTE: The official publication date is the date theproceedings are made available in the ACM Digital Library. This date maybe up to two weeks prior to the first day of your conference. Theofficial publication date affects the deadline for any patent filingsrelated to published work. (For those rare conferences whose proceedingsare published in the ACM Digital Library after the conference is over, the official publication date remains the first day of the conference.)PROGRAM COMMITTEE (RESEARCH PAPERS)J.
