    About SHINE 2018

Across Asia, there is a nursing workforce shortage due to increased strain on public health services and a mass migration of nurses relocating to more prosperous countries, such as Japan and Singapore, which have rapidly aging societies. One area of critical importance, but often overlooked, is the field of health informatics, which is crucial in improving data sharing in the public health arena by ensuring that doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals have access to quality medical IT and healthcare management systems.

Another major challenge facing Asia is disease control and prevention. Public health challenges that will be addressed are the need for improved nursing care for the aging nations, fighting Neglected Tropical Diseases, such as Liver Fluke in Thailand and improving access to safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation in South Asia.

SHINE 2018 will address the emerging challenges facing public health practice, health equity and nursing in Asia, such as the growing healthcare technology gap, which makes access to quality healthcare even more difficult.

So please, join us this April in Hiroshima, Japan for this multidisciplinary event that will serve as a platform for sharing research and addressing issues in the science of health informatics integrated with nursing practice and education.
