Authors of selectedpapers will be invited to submit extended versions to one of the IARIAJournals.SubmissionsSubmission deadline: December 10, 2008We welcome technical papers presenting research, practical results andcase studies, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specificproposals, such as those being discussed in the standard fora or inindustry consortia, survey papers addressing the key problems andsolutions on any of the topics of interest, short papers on work inprogress, and panel proposals. The topics suggested by the workshop can be discussed in term ofconcepts, state of the art, standards, implementations, runningexperiments and applications. Authors are invited to submit completeunpublished papers, which are not under review in any other conferenceor journal in the following, but not limited topic areas.Industrial presentations and legal case studies are not subject to theseconstraints. Business processes not only integrates departmentsand subsidiaries of enterprises but also are extended acrossorganizations and to interact with governments. On the other hand, wireless technologies and peer-to-peer networksenable ubiquitous access to services and information systems withscalability. This results in the removal of barriers of market expansionand new business opportunities as well as threats. In this new globaland ubiquitous environment, it is of increasing importance to considerlegal and social aspects in business activities and information systemsthat will provide some level of certainty. There is a broad spectrum of vertical domains where legal and socialissues influence the design and development of information systems, suchas web personalization and protection of users privacy in serviceprovision, intellectual property rights protection when designing andimplementing virtual works and multiplayer digital games, copyrightprotection in collaborative environments, automation of contracting andcontract monitoring on the web, protection of privacy in location-basedcomputing, etc.The purpose of this workshop is to bring together computer scienceresearchers, engineers, policy makers and practitioners working at thestate of the art on information and related fields such as legal domain, social sciences, and marketing. This event will also outline the majorchallenges and future perspectives on incorporating legal and socialaspects at the design, deployment, evaluation of information systemsunder emerging computing environments, such as, but not limited to, (i)service-oriented architecture (SOA) and service computing, (ii) Mobile, pervasive, and ubiquitous computing, (iii) Web security and privacy,(iv) Semantic Web and Semantic Web Services, (v) Agent and autonomouscomputing, (vi) Grid computing, (vi) Virtual communities, or (vii)Inter-, intra-organizational integration.Topics of legal and social aspects of information systems include butare not limited to:Principles, theories, and challenges of legal and social aspectsStrategies, modeling, and requirements engineering of legal and socialaspects Architectures, implementations, and deployment consideration oflegal and social aspects Cyber threats, emerging risks, systemicconcerns, and emergency preparedness Social computing and lifestylecomputing Service marketing and customer relationship management Marketstructures and emerging business models Emerging legal issues due to newcomputing environment File / information sharing networks and userbehavior Knowledge modeling, management, and application Negotiation andcontracting as well as contract monitoring and enforcement E-democracy,e-policy, and governance Legal and social ontologies Privacy andcopyright in collaborative environments and social networks Intellectualproperty rights Trust, security, and privacy Counterfeit forensicIdentity management and access control Security and privacy inlocation-based servicesCommitteeSLAECE ChairsDickson K.W.
