Call For Papers - CFP
Conference name: PECCS Special Session on Self-Aware and Adaptive Embedded Systems - SAAES 2011 Venue: Algarve, PortugalEvent Date: 5-7 March, 2011Co-chairsJouni IsoahoUniversity of TurkuFinlandJuha PlosilaUniversity of TurkuFinlandScopeSelf-aware and adaptive (SAA) systems are capable of monitoring their own states and the surrounding environment, and adapt themselves to different scenarios and requirements. The concept of self-awareness and adaptivity belongs to the wide scope of autonomic computing, while focusing on the aspects of awareness and adaptation. SAA features become essential in the emerging and future embedded system, as the number of components and their heterogeneity increase significantly, for both single-chip parallel processing and physically distributed processing. While existing works propose various superior features for adaptive systems, practical and efficient solutions to achieve SAA systems still call for wider and more dedicated efforts, including the discussion on SAA theory and modeling, scalable design approaches and framework, design techniques and practical implementation for low-power/energy, high dependability and security, etc.. The SAAES special session addresses these important and challenging topics.Topics of interestThis special session welcomes both regular papers and positional papers (with innovative and well-explained ideas but not yet complete implementation) in the following and related areas:* Theory, Specification, Modeling and Implementation of Self-aware and Adaptive Systems* Application Engineering for SAA Systems* Self Design for SAA Systems* Self-aware and Adaptive Operations for Energy Efficiency, Dependability and Security* Formal Methods in the Design and Verification of SAA Systems* Wireless Sensor Networks with Self-aware and Adaptive Features* Case Studies for Smart Houses, Intelligent Automotive or other Industrial Scenarios* Self-aware and Adaptive Cyber-physical Systems (CPS) in the Embedded System ContextImportant DatesRegular Paper Submission: January 10, 2011Authors Notification: January 25, 2011Final Paper Submission and Registration: February 3, 2011Special Session Program CommitteeLiliana Ardissono, Università degli Studi di Torino, ItalyHui Cheng, University of Bedfordshire, U.K.Waltenegus Dargie, Technical University of Dresden, GermanyPeeter Ellervee, Tallinn University of Technology, EstoniaThomas Hollstein, Tallinn University of Technology, EstoniaAxel Jantsch, Royal Institute of Technology, SwedenGert Jervan, Tallinn University of Technology, EstoniaLauri Koskinen, Aalto University, FinlandPasi Liljeberg, University of Turku, FinlandZhonghai Lu, Royal Institute of Technology, SwedenEthiopia Nigussie, University of Turku, FinlandJari Nurmi, Tampere University of Technology, FinlandStephan Reiff-Marganiec, University of Leicester, U.K.Ingo Sander, Royal Institute of Technology, SwedenDavid Siguenza Tortosa, University of Madrid, SpainLeonidas Tsiopoulos, Åbo Akademi University, FinlandSeppo Virtanen, University of Turku, Finland(list not yet complete)Paper SubmissionProspective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the topics listed above.Instructions for preparing the manuscript (in Word and Latex formats) are available at: Paper TemplatesPlease also check the Submission Guidelines.Papers should be submitted electronically via the web-based submission system at: http://www.insticc.org/PrimorisPublicationsAll accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book, under an ISBN reference and on CD-ROM support. All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SciTePress Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/).Five high-quality papers accepted to the special session will be invited to a special issue of the International Journal of Embedded and Real-Time Communication Systems (IJERTCS, http://www.igi-global.com/ijertcs/), which is an official publication of the Information Resources Management Association.Secretariat Contactse-mail: peccs.secretariatinsticc.orgWebsite: http://www.peccs.org/SAAES.asp
