First ICST conference on Facets of Virtual Environments **** FaVE 2009 p/> July 27-29, 2009, Berlin http://www.fave-conference.orgFaVE (Facets of Virtual Environments) 2009 is a refereed internationalacademic conference devoted to persistent, multi-user virtual environments.The recent rise of World of Warcraft, Second Life and similar applicationshas caught the imagination of the public and scholars alike, yet until nowthe study of virtual environments has been subordinated to a collection ofsubtopics of established academic disciplines. FaVE 2009 seeks to establishvirtual environments as a research field in its own right. The conferencebrings together under one academic umbrella current research and emergingdevelopments in the social, technical, legal, economic, design and culturalaspects of virtual environments. To this end, FaVE 2009 invites researchersand practitioners to participate in its interdisciplinary exchange ofknowledge and experience. It should be fun!FaVE 2009 welcomes contributions relating to virtual environments, fromall fields.
