INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON QUANTUM COMMUNICATION AND QUANTUM NETWORKING(FROM SATELLITE TO NANOSCALE)October 26 - 30, 2009Vico Equense, Sorrento peninsula, Naples, Italyhttp://www.quantumcomm.orgSponsors: Create-Net (www.create-net.org), ICST (www.icst.org)CALL FOR PAPERSScope: This meeting brings together communitiesof experts in quantum communication, quantuminformation, quantum nanoscale physics, photonics, and networking. In the framework ofquantum information processing the quantumcommunication mainly deals with encoding andsecurely distributing quantum states of light inoptical fiber or in free space providing groundsfor quantum cryptography applications.Advancements in quantum communication area overlast decade have made the metropolitan quantumnetworks a reality. The practical securesatellite communication is clearly within thereach. It became clear with rapid advancement of modernnanoscale technology that quantum photonicdevices naturally communicate with each othereither electromagnetically or by virtue of anelectron transport. Basic laws of quantum physicsand quantum electromagnetics govern this type ofcommunication at nanoscale. To a macroscopicobserver such nanoscale systems could appear in aform a structured or unstructured network. Thecross-disciplinary merger of quantum physics andnanophotonics with principles of networking incommunication opens new perspective fordeveloping modern quantum communicationapplications with an eye on practical devices. This conference is devoted to the discussion ofnew challenges in quantum communication andquantum networking that extends from thenanoscale to a global satellite communicationnetworks. It will place particular emphasis onbasic quantum science effects and on emergingtechnological solutions leading to practicalapplications in communication industry.Technical Topics and Program Chairs:1.
