International Workshop on SImulation Models and Techniques for Intelligent Mobility (SIMTIM -2011) affiliated with ITST-2011www.itst2011.orgNowadays complex and challenging vehicular communication architectures bear specific and highly demanding Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The evaluation of these communication architectures, mainly based on mobile wireless radio access technologies, has raised a crucial challenge to the research community. In this context, simulation and modelling techniques turn to be a powerful tool in gaining insight into the behaviour of these vehicular communication architectures. The main advantages of simulation modelling include the ability to evaluate scenarios not easily achievable through empirical methods (i.e. scalability testing of networks) and the ability to modify models to test system sensitivity and tune performance. Another important application of simulation modelling techniques is to perform meaningful comparative studies of different technologies, protocols, or new implementations to determine which communication technology performs better from the quality of service (QoS) point of view in a specific scenario. This workshop aims to provide an insight on the most recent innovations and techniques on Simulation Modelling for Intelligent Mobility and ITS services.Papers are invited in any of the following or other related topics:? Modelling techniques and simulation frameworks in the vehicular scenario? Simulation studies on mobile wireless access technologies (LTE, WiMAX, IEEE802.11p, IEEE802.11n, MBWA, Satellite, TETRA..) for the vehicular context? Live-Simulation-Live studies for the transportation scenario? Modelling of Intelligent Transport specific services? Simulation studies for Intelligent Mobility solutions and Vehicular communication networks. ? Network Operations and Capacity Planning. Performance Evaluation of ITS services based on simulation techniquesWorkShop Chairs Marina Aguado, marina.aguado
