Call For Papers - CFP
The 21st ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM 2012) will be held from October 29 to November 2, 2012 in Maui, USA. CIKM is a well-known top tier and premier ACM conference in the areas of information retrieval, knowledge management and database. Since 1992, it has successfully brought together leading researchers and developers from the three communities. The purpose of the conference is to identify challenging problems facing the development of future knowledge and information systems, and to shape future research directions through the publication of high quality, applied and theoretical research findings. In CIKM 2012, we will continue the tradition of promoting collaboration among multiple areas. We encourage submissions of high quality papers on all topics in the general areas of databases, information retrieval, and knowledge management. Papers that bridge across these areas are of special interest and will be considered for a "Best Interdisciplinary Paper" award. Topics of interest in the three tracks include, but are not limited to:Databases:Access methods and indexingAuthorization, data privacy and securityConcurrency control and recoveryData adaptability, reusability and qualityDatabase languages and modelsInformation integration, data provenance, probabilistic databasesMobile databases and distributed data managementPeer-to-peer, parallel and distributed databasesQuery processing, optimization and performanceReal-time and active databasesScientific and biological databasesSemantic WebSemi-structured data processing, XML filtering and routingStream-based processing and network databasesString databases, blogs and social searchSystems, middleware, applications and experiencesTemporal, spatial and multimedia databasesUser experience: languages, models, interfacesInformation Retrieval:Citation Analysis, Social Networks for IRDistributed IR, Peer to Peer SearchDomain-specific IR (e.g., Legal IR, Genome, Mobile IR, IR for chemical structures)Filtering (e.g., Routing, Collaborative filtering, Topic tracking, Recommender systems)Foundation of Information Retrieval (e.g., theory, ranking)IR Architectures, Scalability and EfficiencyIR EvaluationLanguage Specific IR (Multi-lingual, Cross-lingual, NLP, Question and Answer)Machine Learning for IRMultimedia IR (Audio, Speech, Video, Image)Semi-Structured Information RetrievalDistributed IR, Peer to Peer SearchUser Modeling for IR, Search PersonalizationUser Studies, Interactive Information Retrieval, Interfaces and PIMWeb Search, Advertising, AdversarialOther topics related to IR (Privacy, Spam, Feature Engineering, et. al.)Knowledge Management:Advertising and OptimizationClassification and ClusteringData pre- and post-ProcessingInformation ExtractionInformation Filtering and Recommender SystemsKnowledge Synthesis and VisualizationLarge-scale statistical techniquesLink and Graph MiningSemantic TechniquesTemporal and Spatial data MiningText MiningBiometricsIndustry track:Industrial Practice and ExperienceTechnology for Developing RegionsPaper Submissions for CIKM 2012Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers that are not being considered for publication in any other forum. Manuscripts should be submitted electronically, in PDF format and formatted using the ACM camera-ready templates available at: http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates
ACM CIKM review is double-blind. Therefore, please anonymize your submission. Papers cannot exceed 10 pages in length. There is no short paper track. The organizers may offer the authors of selected paper submissions to prepare a shorter version of their paper for presentation.
