CALL FOR PAPERSAmbient, pervasive, and ubiquitous computing are seen as a drastic shift forcomputing systems. Indeed, networked computing resources shall becomeinvisible to users and cooperatively provide them with the right services atthe right time.Increasingly, wireless sensor networks, consisting of a large number ofnodes closely interacting with the environment, are finding a place inlarger pervasive systems, leading to an amalgamation of the two streams anda new set of interaction patterns in the applications running on them.Specifically, this domain opens up a wide area of research for middleware tosupport applications on these systems. The aim of this workshop is to investigate the issues involved in middlewarefor sensing and actuation augmented pervasive systems, from supportingalgorithms and protocols to emerging computing paradigms and software systemarchitectures.Topics for the workshop include but are not limited to:- Programming abstractions for sensing and actuation augmented pervasivesystems- Middleware support for data access in such systems- Reports from actual deployments in the field- Context awareness in sensing and actuation augmented pervasiveenvironments- Dependability in sensing and actuation augmented pervasive systems- Interoperability issues in handling node heterogeneity- Mobility issues in sensing and actuation augmented pervasive systems- Security, privacy and trust in sensing and actuation augmented pervasivesystems- Quality of service in sensing and actuation augmented pervasive systems- Scalability in sensing and actuation augmented pervasive systems- Social groups in sensing and actuation augmented pervasive systems- System architectures for sensing and actuation augmented pervasive systems- User-centred sensing and actuation augmented pervasive systemsThe overall goal of the workshop is to bring together researchers working onthe numerous topics related to middleware for sensing and actuationaugmented pervasive systems aiming to provide an environment for sharingexperiences and initiating collaborations.Paper Submission:Proceedings of the IE'09 workshops will be published by IOS Press (http://www.iospress.nl/
) as a volume in the AISE series.Papers should be submitted using the EasyChair conference management system(link to be communicated soon).Papers should be written in English and be prepared according to the IOSPress format. You may check athttp://intelligentenvironments.org/conferences/ie09/submition_instructionsfor
downloading the instructions for authors / publisher?s templates inMSWord or LaTex format. The manuscript should not exceed 8 pages (including text, figures andreferences). Authors should submit a PDF version of their papers. All papers will be reviewed for technical merit. Papers must not be/havebeen submitted elsewhere. Accepted papers will be published in the workshopproceedings, provided at least one author of the paper registers to presentthe paper at the workshop.Important Dates:Papers due: 30 April 2009Notification of acceptance: 22 May 2009Camera-ready papers due: 9 June 2009Organizing Committee, Program Co-chairs:Animesh Pathak, INRIA, FranceNikolaos Georgantas, INRIA, FranceValerie Issarny, INRIA, France
