Important Dates :Submission Deadline: July 26th, 2011Notification of Acceptance : September 8, 2011Final paper due : September 22, 2011CALL FOR PAPERSThe Third International Workshop on Cross-Layer Design (IWCLD 2011) will be held from November 30, 2011 to December 1, 2011 in Rennes, Brittany, France. IWCLD is devoted to cross-layer techniques for communications systems and provides a premier forum for researchers from academia, industry and government to present and exchange new ideas, technical advances and ongoing works on cross layer design and related topics. The workshop will feature keynotes addressed by leading researchers, as well as invited and contributed papers. Topics of interest for submission include, but are not limited to: Cross-layer architectures and mechanisms for wireless communications and networks - Cellular networks (3G, 4G, etc.) - Mesh - Ad-Hoc - Sensor networks - Heterogeneous PHY networks Cross-layer considerations and resource allocation for specific PHY techniques - MIMO - Multi-carrier - Cooperative communications - Cognitive radio System and network optimization - Scalability issues - End-to-end QoS support - Coverage area - Energy minimization - Network coding - Application-layer adaptation Cross-layer protocols - Signaling for cross-layer interaction - PHY/MAC/RLC and transport layer interactions - Mobility management and routing - Security aspects Standards and Services - Optimization of current standards (WiMAX,W-CDMA, etc.) - Interoperability with legacy systems - Solutions for network and system convergence - Implementation and testbed result Paper Submission Papers should be written in English, not exceeding 5 double-column pages and should follow the paper template available on the workshop web site http://www.iwcld2011.org
. The maximum paper length is limited to 6 pages with an additional over length charge of USD100. The paper submission must be handled via EDAS web site http://edas.info//N10601
. Prospective authors are invited to submit original and unpublished work, not currently under review by another workshop, conference or journal.VenueWith this third edition located in Rennes, we expect a very fruitful and pleasant workshop. Brittany enjoys a high potential for research in the sectors of information and communication technologies, both through specialist centres and laboratories, universities and leading engineering colleges. Also, Rennes is about one hour away from very famous waterside places such as Saint-Malo, Cancale and Le-Mont-Saint-Michel which is often called the "Wonder of the Western World". A one-day tour will be proposed on December 2, 2011 to discover these renowned destinations. STEERING COMMITTEEProf. Dongfeng Yuan, Shandong University, ChinaProf. Josef A.
