The IACP will present the 2011 best practice award and exhibition for city planning and urban design projects in the People’s Republic of China. Planning and design firms, planning institutions, government agencies and individuals are encouraged to submit their recent or proposed work. The award will be announced at 5th IACP annual conference at Renmin University in Beijing on June 18 ? 19, 2011, and the exhibition will be held at the conference site. Exhibition and the award winner will be publicized by the IACP website and invited media. Please note, we encourage award entries to be exhibited at the conference site, but not required. One could submit an award entry without participating in the Exhibition.The IACP is the principal international organization concerned with urban planning in China. Its membership includes academics and planning and design professionals from North America, Asia, Europe and elsewhere in the world. Several hundred people will attend the conference and hundreds more view material on the IACP website. More information on the IACP and the conference is at www.chinaplanning.org.How to Submit for Award:Award entries must be submitted in digital format online through IACP website by May 15th, 2011. Each submission will use a template (download PDF) with the following content. The final submission file cannot exceed five pages with the following items.1. A summary of the entry (maximal 1000 words) Either Chinese or English2. A description of how the entry meets the six the award criteria (maximal 2000 words)3. Digital images that are copyright-free with captions. 4. )The Award submissions will be judged by a jury based on the following criteria:Quality. Excellence of thought, analysis, writing, and graphics.Effectiveness. A explicit showing that the entry addresses a current problem and its the results will make a difference in the lives of the people affected.Innovation. Documentation of how the plan or design presents a visionary approach or innovative concept to address current needs in Chinese context.Sustainability. Documentation that the plan or design will protect the natural environment, enhance economic competitiveness, and strengthen social harmony.Public Interests. Evidence that public interests are safeguarded throughout the project, and especially how underrepresented social groups are included.Replicability. Evidence that the plan or design has potential to be used by others and that its components and methodology will further good planning in China.There is not entry fee for IACP Corporate member; the entry fee for an award submission is $100 (¥650 RMB) for individual IACP members and $200 (¥1300 RMB) for all others. )The exhibit fee is $150 for corporate IACP members and $ 650 for all others. The fee covers exhibition space, and entitles one representative to attend the conference.
