    Call For Papers - CFP

System Support for Ubiquitous Computing Workshop (UbiSys 2009)

at the 11th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing (UbiComp 2009)

    Orlando, Florida

    September 30-October 3, 2009

    http://ubisys.ccis.edu.sa/

The goal of this workshop is to promote cooperation between ubicomp

systems researchers and to address the challenges related to the wider

deployment and interoperability of ubicomp systems. The workshop aims

at bringing together researchers in this field to discuss the

    state-of-the-art

and to foster discussions and inspire novel techniques for unifying the

underlying system platforms for ubicomp. Key issues of discussions will

include developing and revising common sets of abstractions of ubicomp

environments for supporting ubiquitous applications and services,

wide-deployment strategies, and interoperability between different

    platforms.

Currently, the evaluation of ubicomp systems is not well established. For

effective deployment of ubicomp systems, we must propose techniques and

    benchmarks

for evaluation that is best suited to our kind of research.

    Topics:

The workshop focuses on presenting state of the art and emerging

research, as well as experience reports, in the following topics:

    * Abstractions and models toward interoperability and portability.

    * Use of new and emerging middleware and software engineering approaches.

    * Experiences of deployed ubicomp systems infrastructure.

    * Techniques and benchmarks for the effective evaluation of ubicomp systems

    Submission Guidelines:

This workshop will consist of a mix of paper presentations, discussions

    and a panel

discussion. Papers must cover one of the topics listed above. We will

    prioritize

research papers describing current and on-going research, experience

    reports and

position papers related to the workshop's topics.

Submissions are expected to be 4 - 6 pages long. All papers should be in

    the

Ubicomp 2009 workshop templates format (available at

    http://www.ubicomp.org/ubicomp2009/templates.shtml). All papers will be

    peer

reviewed and selected based on their originality, merit, and relevance

    to the

workshop. All accepted papers must be presented during the workshop.

    Ubicomp

will publish all workshop papers in a proceedings supplement. The

    supplement

will not be included in the ACM digital library. Copyright of the

    published papers

    will remain with the authors.

Paper submissions will be handled online at http://ubisys.ccis.edu.sa/.

    Please

visit http://ubisys.ccis.edu.sa for further information or if you have any

    questions.

All workshop attendees must submit and have accepted either a full or

    position

    paper.
