Introduction

Embedded software and systems are closely related to our daily life, which

reside from smart appliances to unmanned trains. As the fastest growing

industry, embedded systems will have great societal and environmental impacts.

Therefore, the design and implementation of safe and efficient embedded

software and systems have utmost importance.

The 8th IEEE International Conference on Embedded Software and Systems (IEEE

ICESS-11) will be held in Changsha, China in November 16-18, 2011. It follows

the success of IEEE ICESS-10 in Bradford, United Kingdom. The goal of IEEE

ICESS-11 is to provide a forum for scientists, engineers and researchers to

discuss and exchange novel ideas, results, experiences and work-in-progress

on all aspects of embedded software and systems.

Scope and Interests

IEEE ICESS-11 is an international forum for presenting and discussing emerging

ideas and trends in embedded software and systems from both the research

Submission and Publication Information

The accepted papers from this conference will be published by IEEE Computer

Society in IEEE proceedings (indexed by EI Compendex and ISTP). Papers

should be written in English conforming to the IEEE standard conference

format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should describe original work

not previously published and not currently submitted elsewhere.

Papers should be submitted through the paper submission system

at the conference website. Each paper is limited to 8 pages

(or 12 pages with the over length charge). Distinguished papers,

after further revisions, will be published in two special issues:

(1) Elsevier's Journal of Systems Architecture (JSA); (2) IEICE's

Transactions on Information and Systems, both to be indexed

by SCI and EI. The program committee will select two winners for

the Best Paper Awards for this conference. Submitting a paper to the

conference means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should

attend the conference and present the paper. For no-show authors, their papers

will be removed from the IEEE Computer Society digital library after the

conference and their affiliations will be notified.
