Call For Papers - CFP
After a successful first PerNEM workshop in 2010, we are delighted to announce the second PerNEM workshop in conjunction with IEEE PerCom 2012. The events that took place on 11 September 2001 have brought to the forefront the unique challenges that occur during a crisis, which require effective sensing, communications and decision making with demanding time constraints in highly dynamic environments. Pervasive systems address these requirements by providing decision support to rescuers and evacuees, guaranteeing communications and collecting information that is vital for planning and organising the emergency operation. This workshop focuses on pervasive networked sensing and decision making, both wired and wireless, geared towards emergency management. PerNEM 2012 addresses leading edge research in these areas through the use of sensing, communication, decision support, simulation tools and modelling methods with focus on system design, optimisation and experimental evaluation.TopicsPerNEM will bring together contributions which include but are not limited to the following areas:Networked sensors for emergency managementPervasive middleware for emergency managementArchitectures and Systems for Emergency Management ApplicationsDecentralised algorithms for pervasive systemsSelf-aware and self- adaptive network design and evaluationNetwork self-healing, security and self-defenceEnergy efficiency in pervasive networksWireless Networks for emergency supportMobile sensors for disaster monitoringWireless Protocols for Emergency ManagementNetworked robotics for wireless communicationsEmergency Communication SystemsPervasive emergency management systemsQoS in critical communicationsAdaptive Routing for Emergency SituationsRegistration and Submission DetailsAccepted papers will be included and indexed in the IEEE digital libraries (Xplore), showing their affiliation with IEEE PerCom.All accepted papers need to have a full registration to the conference (there is no workshop only registration). No-shows of accepted papers at the workshop will result in those papers NOT being included in the IEEE digital libraries.Papers must be 6 pages or less in size, including references, figures and tables (at least 10pt font, 2-column format). The IEEE LaTeX and Microsoft Word templates, as well as information for formatting the manuscript can be found here.Papers should be submitted via the EDAS PerNEM 2012 page.Selected papers will be considered for publication in a Special Issue of the Computer Journal.
