    Lean in Services and Higher Education: Transforming the Public Sector

    Due to a number of requests, we are extending the deadline for submission of abstracts/ case studies/ workshop proposals or papers for the upcoming “Lean in Services and Higher Education: Transforming the Public Sector” conference on 25-27 January 2012. The event is part of the continuing series of Lean in HE conferences subsequently held at the University of St Andrews, University of Warwick and Cardiff University.

    Practitioners and Academics are invited to submit abstracts / case studies / proposal for workshops on their practice and or / research that would contribute to the understanding of high performance methodologies such as lean in higher education and the public sector. Contributions on all topics related to the practice, research, and teaching of Lean and other high performance methodologies (such as Six Sigma) are invited.

    Themes:

    Practitioner stream: focusing on case studies and workshops.

    Academic stream: focusing on papers and theory building.

    Practice and theory building for transformations in the public sector and higher education

    Sustainable public services

    Visual management ? how visualisation enables high performance

    Transformations in industry ? learning from manufacturing

    Research students’ track

    Workshops

    The extended deadline for the submission of abstracts / case studies / workshop proposals will be 21 August 2011, with formal notification of acceptance sent to successful authors via e-mail week commencing 31 August 2011.
