Category ANTS 2011
Deadline: August 19, 2011 | Date: December 19, 2011-December 21, 2011
Venue/Country: Bangalore, India

Scope:We are witnessing a watershed moment in networking where the end user demands and cloud computing based service paradigms are influencing evolving network architectures, system designs and service delivery models. Over-the-Top (OTT) players, consumer electronic vendors , IT providers and 3rd party software developers have enteredthe service delivery value chain fostering an open environment challenging the hegemony of traditional network operators. IT &Telecom, hitherto distinct domains, are now spoken of as ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) symbolizing the close interworking of these disciplines in the emerging service delivery architectures. Different vertical industries such as energy utilities, healthcare, automotive, banking & finance, retail, media entertainment are leveraging network technologies in innovative ways to offer branded services directly or in partnership with network providers. Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) have opened new vistas for communications and networking technologies.ANTS is the premier IEEE forum on networking and telecommunications topics in India. The distinguishing characteristic of IEEE ANTS is the promotion of an intense dialogue between academia and industry. This is fostered through panel discussions, invited talks and keynotes where academia is exposed to state-of-practice and results from trials, interoperability experiments and other demos. The industry is benefited in turn by exposure to leading-edge research in networking as well the opportunity to communicate to academic researchers which practical problems require further research.Motivated by the tremendous success of the first four IEEE ANTS events in Mumbai in 2007, 2008 and 2010 and New Delhi in 2009, the theme of IEEE ANTS 2011 will be on networking and communication technologies for realizing "any-to-any" connectivity. To address this theme, the conference will feature a technical program of peer-reviewed papers, tutorials, talks, and panels on relevant topics bringing together experts from industry, academia and government. IEEE ANTS 2011 will provide an exciting meeting ground for the confluence and exchange of ideas among participants from all over the world. The conference will be held in the IT capital of India - Bengaluru (formerly, Bangalore) - during December 19-21, 2011.Starting new this year, IEEE ANTS 2011 will feature both long and short papers in three broad areas. These areas are:1. Wireline Networks (including topics such as):Cloud and data center networksCore network architectures and protocolsMetro and access networks (FTTX, PON, etc.)Optical networksRouter and switch architectures: IP, SONET/SDH, MSPP, OXCStorage networks2. Wireless Networks (including topics such as):Ad hoc mobile networksCellular and broadband wireless networksCognitive radio networkingMobility models and mobile networksOptical wireless (free space optics)Sensor networks and embedded systemsWireless access networksWireless mesh networks3. Network Applications (including topics such as):Cyber-physical systems and networksM-Health, E-Health and Smart HealthcareEnergy-Efficient Green networking and SustainabilityIPTV, Video-on-Demand, Telepresence, Collaboration toolsOnline social networkingPeer-to-peer networksSmartphone networked appsSecurity, trust and privacyOf particular interest are papers which address challenges in thedeveloping world in the networking and telecommunication sectors andwhich address the conference theme of "any-to-any" connectivity.Authors are strongly encouraged to address topics of interest to bothindustry and academia.Submission Guidelines:Authors are encouraged to submit their papers using EDAS (http://edas.info
). All papers will be reviewed for technical contentand scope by a technical program committee. All accepted and presented papers would be digitally archived through IEEE Xplore. The page limits are SIX pages for the long paper track and THREE pages for the short paper track. Papers should be in PDF format, two columns, font size 10 or greater and compliant with other IEEE ANTS manuscript guidelines.Submitted papers must be unpublished and not currently under review for any other publication. Authors of accepted papers will need to sign an IEEE copyright release form and present their paper at the conference.IEEE and IEEE Communications Society Policies:All IEEE ANTS 2011 technical papers must be associated with an authorregistration at the FULL rate. For authors presenting multiple papers, one FULL registration is valid for up to three papers. IEEE reservesthe right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference(e.g., removal from IEEE Xplore) if the paper is not presented at theconference.Important Dates: Paper submissions: August 19, 2011Notification of acceptance: October 7, 2011Registration deadline for authors: October 21, 2011Conference dates: December 19-21, 2011Organizing Committee:General Chair: Sudhir Dixit, HP Labs, IndiaTechnical Program Chairs: Byrav Ramamurthy, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USAVijay Sivaraman, University of New South Wales, AustraliaIndustry Chairs: Deepak Kataria, IPJunction Inc., USASaragur M.
