Call for Book ChaptersTitle : Information Reuse and Integration In Academia And IndustryBy Springer VerlagEditors: Tansel Özyer, Keivan Kianmehr, Mehmet Tan, Jia ZengMotivationOver the past decades, huge volumes of data have been produced andstored, large number of software systems have been developed andsuccessfully utilized, various products have been manufactured. Notall these developments could have been achieved without the investmentof money, time, effort, and other resources. Over time, new datasources evolve and data integration continue to be an essential andvital requirement. Further, systems and products should be revised toadapt new technologies and to satisfy new needs. Instead of buildingfrom scratch, researchers in the academia and industry have realizedthe benefits of and concentrated on building new software systems byreusing some of the components that already exist and have been welltested. This trend avoids reinventing the wheel, however, comes at thecost of finding out the best set of existing components to be utilizedand how they should be integrated together and with the new non-existing components which are to be developed from scratch. These arenontrivial tasks and have led to challenging research problems in theacademia and industry. All these issues will be addressed in thisbook, which is intended to be a unique resource for researchers, developers and practitioners. The book will cover the latestdevelopments and discoveries related to information reuse andintegration in the academia and in the industry.ScopeThe scope of the book will be information reuse and integration inacademia and industry including both software and manufacturingindustries. The aim of the book is to maximize the reuse ofinformation, tools and services by creating simple, rich, and reusableknowledge representations, to explore strategies for integrating thisknowledge into legacy systems. A homogeneous set of papers will beselected by considering the following major topics.Topics of the main areas to be considered:Large-scale data and system integrationComponent-based design and reuseUnifying data models (uml, xml, etc.) and ontologiesDatabase integrationStructured/semi-structured dataMiddleware & web servicesReuse in software engineeringData mining and knowledge discoverySensory and information fusionReuse in modeling & simulationAutomation, integration and reuse across various applicationsInformation security & privacySurvivable systems & infrastructuresAi & decision support systemsHeuristic optimization and searchKnowledge acquisition and managementFuzzy and neural systemsSoft computingEvolutionary computingCase-based reasoningNatural language understandingKnowledge management and e-governmentCommand & control systems (c4isr)Human-machine information systemsSpace and robotic systemsBiomedical & healthcare systemsHomeland security & critical infrastructure protectionManufacturing systems & business process engineeringMultimedia systemsService-oriented architectureAutonomous agents in web-based systemsInformation integration in grid computing environmentsInformation integration in mobile computing environmentsInformation integration in ubiquitous computing environmentsSystems of systemsSemantic web and emerging applicationsInformation reuse, integration and sharing in collaborativeenvironmentsSocial network analysisWeb 2.0Knowledge engineeringIntrusion detection and surveillance analysisUbiquitous systemsAmbient intelligenceContext aware systemsTarget audienceResearchers and practitioner from academia, industry, and governmentSubmission guidelines-Papers reporting original and unpublished research results pertainingto the above topics are solicited.-Submitted papers will follow an academic peer review process.
