We welcome you to Brisbane for SETE and APCOSE 2012 to share, promote and advance the best of systems engineering. The 2012 conference is the first to combine SESA, ITEA and APCOSE and encompasses the Asia Pacific region which includes countries with the fastest growing economies in the world.Recent adverse events in this region highlight the increasingly complex problems which system solutions need to address, including natural disaster response and climate change challenges. The situation requires civil and military organisations develop comprehensive and resilient systems, while operating with significant budget constraints.Both government and industry need to develop working and sustainable systems for defence, aerospace, infrastructure, transport, energy and telecommunications.In order to achieve the above, widespread systems thinking is required for effective and efficient system solutions to be conceived and implemented.Systems engineering provides the framework, methods and tools required to help solve the complex problems facing our region.Come to share, to learn and be inspired.Keywords: Accepted papers list.
