The IASTED International Conference on Engineering and Applied Science ~EAS 2012~ Engineering Applications for the 21st Century December 27 ? 29, 2012 Colombo, Sri Lanka SPONSORS The International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) World Modelling and Simulation Forum (WMSF) GENERAL CHAIR Prof. B. M. Chen The National University of Singapore, Singapore PROGRAM CHAIRS Prof. Kok-Kinog Tan National University of Singapore Prof. M. Tahir Khan University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan LOCATION As Sri Lanka’s largest urban centre, Colombo is a vibrant and naturally resplendent treasure of South Asia. The infrastructure of Colombo itself is a mottled combination of culture: old and new, east and west. Because the city’s harbor was used by sea-traders up to 2000 years ago, the area’s architecture ranges from ancient to post-modern, including Indian, Chinese, Arab, Dutch, Portuguese, and British colonial influences, as well as more modern, state-of-the-art designs. Colombo’s widely diverse architecture is demonstrated best by the contrast between the National Museum of Colombo, built in 1877, and the brand new Nelum Pokuna (Lotus Pond) Theatre, which opened in December 2011. The Theatre’s postmodern design has already attracted many world-class musical and theatrical performances, and rivals the World Trade Centre of Colombo as the iconic building of the city. PURPOSE The IASTED International Conference on Engineering and Applied Science (EAS 2012) will serve as a major forum for international researchers, professionals, and students to present their latest research, developments, applications, and ideas in all branches of engineering and applied science. Some of the relevant topics are listed at the end of this announcement. EAS 2012 aims to strengthen relations between industries, research laboratories, and universities. The papers submitted to this conference will be chosen through a double-blind evaluation by at least two reviewers. Acceptance will be based primarily on originality and contribution. Awards are planned for Best Paper and Best Student Paper. Also a selected set of high-quality papers will be considered for publication in IASTED International Journals (e.g., Control and Intelligent Systems). SCOPE The topics of interest to be covered by EAS 2012 include, but are not limited to: Agricultural Engineering Applied Mechanics Automation Biomechanics Civil Engineering - All Topics Communication Engineering and Science Computational Mechanics Computer Engineering Control Systems Dynamics and Vibration Education Engineering Design Fluid Mechanics Industrial Applications Industrial Electronics Industrial Engineering Information Technologies Manufacturing Mechatronics Medical Technologies Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Military Applications Modelling Nano Technologies Power and Energy Soft Computing Solid Mechanics and Materials Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer Transportation Systems SUBMISSION Submit your paper via our website at: www.iasted.org/conferences/submit-785.html.
