abstract submission by May 18 2012paper submission by May 25, 2012ABOUT SINCOM'12The International Workshop on Socially Intelligent Computing (SINCOM)provides a forum on the study, design, development and evaluation of theemergent intelligence that human-computer systems demonstrate. Sociallyintelligent computational systems bring together people and computers, support the creation of radically new forms of collaboration, communicationand intelligence and allow the generation of new, emergent behaviors.Socially Intelligent Computing research is closely related to twoother areas of research: "social computing", i.e. the design and use ofinformation and communication technologies that consider social context; andto the field of "collective intelligence", i.e. systems that facilitate thecollective behavior of groups of individual actors - people, computationalagents, and organizations - and exhibit intelligent characteristics such asperception, learning, judgment, or problem solving. The International Workshop on Socially Intelligent Computing (SINCOM)addresses all technological aspects of socially intelligent computing, thatspan a variety of issues from advanced collaborative systems to usingsemantic technologies and the web of linked open data to support socialityin computational systems. The workshop aims to attract research thataddresses either intra- and cross-enterprise settings or uses intelligentcomputing infrastructures that exploit social media on the web. There is norestriction in the application focus of work to be submitted: papers fromdifferent domains ranging from e.g. corporate idea management to citizenengagement are welcome. The objective of the 1st International Workshop on Socially IntelligentComputing is to bring together researchers, developers and practitioners todiscuss research issues and experiences in the study, development anddeployment of Socially Intelligent Computing concepts, applications, andsystems. The workshop will provide an international forum for thepresentation of both theoretical and practical results aiming at theidentification of items for a research agenda.TOPICS OF INTERESTTopics that are addressed by SINCOM'12 include but are not limited to thefollowing:Socially Intelligent Computing principles and approaches* Theories and Methodologies for Socially Intelligent Computing* Modeling of Social Behavior in Social Computational Systems* Architectures and Design of Socially Intelligent ComputationalSystemsSocial Media Management within Social Computational Systems* Social Media Analytics and Monitoring* Using Social Media to Predict the Future* Sentiment Analysis and Opinion Mining* Stream Processing of Social Data and Social ActivitiesSemantic Web and Linked Data for Social Computational Systems* Ontologies for Socially Intelligent Computing* Integration of heterogeneous social data* Merging social data and Linked Open DataLeveraging Social Networks for Socially Intelligent Computing* Discovery, Collection, and Extraction of Social Network Data* Privacy Policies for Social Networks* Privacy and Security Tradeoffs in Social Networks* Visualization of Social Networks* Services in Social NetworksInformation Retrieval and Recommendations for Socially Intelligent Computing* Social Recommender Systems* Machine Learning Methods for Socially Intelligent ComputingSocial Intelligence within and across Enterprises* Human Computation and Crowdsourcing* Wisdom of crowds applications (e.g., prediction markets)* Crowdsourcing in Enterprises ManagementIMPORTANT DATESAbstract Submission deadline: May 18, 2012Paper Submission deadline: May 25, 2012Acceptance Notification: July 2, 2012Camera-Ready due: July 16, 2012Author Registration due: July 16, 2012SINCOM'12 Workshop: September 13 - 14, 2012SUBMISSION GUIDELINESPapers submitted to SINCOM'12 must not have been accepted for publicationelsewhere or be under review for another workshop or conference. Allsubmitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of expression. All paperswill be refereed by at least three members of the program committee. Allsubmissions must be in English.Papers should not exceed 10 pages in the final camera-ready format.Submissions must be laid out according to the final camera-ready formattinginstructions and must be submitted in PDF format. The final proceedings will be published by Springer Verlag as LNCS (LectureNotes in Computer Science). Additionally, extended versions of the bestpapers from the Workshop may be considered for a submission in a specialissue of an International Journal indexed by ISI Thomson Reuter.Author instructions can be found at:http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html
Failure to comply with the formatting instructions for submitted papers willlead to the outright rejection of the paper without review. Failure tocommit to presentation at the conference automatically excludes a paper fromthe proceedings. The paper submission site will be announced shortly.Chaired by:Wolfgang Prinz, Fraunhofer FIT, GermanyGregoris Mentzas, National Technical University of Athens, GreeceProgram CommitteeSteffen Budweg, University of Duisburg-Essen, GermanyErnesto Damiani, University of Milan, ItalyStefan Decker, National University of Ireland, IrelandSchahram Dustdar, Vienna University of Technology, AustriaSean Goggins, iSchool Drexel University, USASergio Gusmeroli, TXT e-Solutions, ItalyNils Jeners, RWTH Aachen, GermanyEpaminondas Kapetanios, University of Westminster, UKRalf Klamma, RWTH Aachen University, GermanyMichael Koch, Bundeswehr University Munich, GermanyYiannis Kompatsiaris, Centre for Research and Technology, GreeceStefanie Lindstaedt, Know Center, AustriaGiorgio de Michelis, University of Milano - Bicocca, ItalyMarc Pallot, INRIA, FranceMarkus Strohmaier, Graz University of Technology, AustriaKlaus-Dieter Thoben, BIBA, GermanyChristian Timmerer, Klagenfurt University, AustriaAlessandra Toninelli, INRIA Paris Rocquencourt, FranceWolfgang Woerndl, TU M?nchen, Germany
