Grand Technical and Social Challenges in HRIRobots are becoming part of people’s everyday sociallives?and will increasingly become so. In future years,robots may become caretaking assistants for the elderly, oracademic tutors for our children, or medical assistants, daycare assistants, or psychological counsellors. Robots maybecome our co-workers in factories and oces, or maids inour homes. They may become our friends. As we move tocreate our future with robots, hard problems in human-robotinteraction (HRI) exist, both technically and socially. The FifthAnnual Conference on HRI seeks to take up grand technicaland social challenges in the eld?and speak to theirintegration. HRI is a single-track, highly selective annualconference that seeks to showcase the very best research inhuman-robot interaction with roots in robotics, psychology,cognitive science, HCI, human factors, articial intelligence,organizational behavior, anthropology, and many other elds.We invite broad participation.Conference site: Business Innovation Center OsakaThe site is located in the center of Osaka, which is easy toaccess from Kansai International Airport and JR Kyotostation.
