Call For Papers - CFP
Semantics play an increasingly crucial role in large and complex networked information systems. Ontologies, vocabularies, and semantic data all represent information sources valuable to end users and are fundamental resources that support a variety of applications in several domains, e.g., data integration, document management, information retrieval, web engineering, and so on.This workshop focuses on issues related to the creation, publication, and evaluation of content for ontologies, vocabularies, and semantic data.In particular, developing and evaluating the content of ontologies is notoriously a time consuming task when performed manually, but the increasing demand for domain specific ontologies is creating a corresponding demand for rapid assimilation of new content into ontologies without jeopardizing the quality of the ontologies themselves. There is, then, a need for the automation and semi-automation of tasks that develop ontology content, and there is also a need for automation and semi-automation of tasks that evaluate ontologies. The main topics investigated in this workshop are related to the development, evaluation (both black box an glass box), management, and documentation of ontologies using automated and semi-automated methods. Furthermore, two special tracks dedicated to specific domain of interest are open; the first track focuses on content creation and evaluation in the e-Governance domain while the second track focuses on Life Sciences. We invite papers and project descriptions that discuss tools and the methodologies for accomplishing any of these tasks, particularly: ? Research papers presenting theoretical solutions, but with a clear illustration on how these solutions can be applied in real-world application domains.? Position papers presenting opinions on some aspect of ontology practice, or describing work that is still in progress, but sufficiently mature to warrant attention.? Business experience and case studies specifying requirements, challenges, or opportunities of modeling and applying ontologies in industry. We also strongly encourage critical papers deriving lessons from failures in dealing with ontologies, not only stereotypical success reports!TopicsMethodology and EngineeringModeling and Engineering MethodologiesOntology Design PatternsQuality of OntologiesQuality of Linked Open DataMetrics and Tasks for Evaluation of OntologiesMetrics and Tasks for Evaluation of Linked Open DataOntological Usability and UsefulnessOntology Metadata and LibrariesOntology ReusabilityOntology Evolution and VersioningMethodologies for Consensus ReachingGood, Best, and Bad PracticesExperiences/Empirical results of Ontology ManagementExperiences of Light-weight vs. Heavy-weight OntologiesAutomatic and Semi-automatic Content GenerationKnowledge HarvestingInductive Methods for OntologiesQuality of Ontology MappingsMetrics and Tasks for Evaluation of Ontology MappingsMulti-lingual Ontology MappingsCrowdsourcing Content GenerationParticipatory and Evolutionary Approaches to Ontology EngineeringConflict Resolution and Self-adaptation in ad hoc NetworksExperiences of Light-weight vs. Heavy-weight OntologiesSemantic Distance and SimilaritySemantics in Sensor NetworksMetrics and Tasks for Evaluation of Automatically and Semi-automatically Generated Contente-Governance OntologyLegal/Legislation OntologiesLocal Government OntologiesLocation Ontology (Real-Estate)Person/Identity OntologyOntologies for OrganizationsOntologies for Social NetworksOntologies for Digital LibrariesOntologies for Public UtilitiesOntologies for Modeling Business ProcessOntologies for Supply Chains ManagementOntologies for Risk AnalysisMappings Between e-Governance Ontologies.Life SciencesBiomedical OntologiesOntologies for BiologyOntologies for Natural SciencesOntologies for PharmacologyOntologies for Food ScienceLinked Open Data in Life SciencesMappings between Life Science OntologiesSubmissionsWe invite (A) Research papers describing original studies of no more than 10 pages; (B) Position papers presenting opinions or work in progress of no more than 6 pages; and (C) Business experience and case studies of no more than 8 pages. All submitted papers will be evaluated by at least three members of the program committee, based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of expression. Detailed formatting instructions can be found at:http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html
The final proceedings will be published by Springer Verlag as LNCS. OTM conference/workshop proceedings are indexed by several bibliographic resources including DBLP. Failure to commit to presentation at the conference automatically excludes a paper from the proceedings. The paper submission page will be announced soon.Important datesAbstract Submission deadline: May 18, 2012Paper Submission deadline: May 25, 2012Acceptance Notification: July 2, 2012Camera-Ready due: July 16, 2012Author Registration due: July 16, 2012SINCOM’12 Workshop: September 13 - 14, 2012Program ChairsAmanda Hicks, University of Buffalo, USA - aellenhicks(at)gmail.comMatteo Palmonari, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, Italy - palmonari(at)disco.unimib.itGeneral ChairsMustafa Jarrar, Birzeit University, PalestineProgram CommitteeAlan Ruttenberg, State University of New York at Buffalo, USAAlbert Goldfain, University at Buffalo, USAAldo Gangemi, LAO - CNR, ITAlex Borgida, Rutgers University, USAAndreas Schmidt, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, DEAnna Fensel, University of Innsbruck, ATArmando Stellato, University of Rome "Tor Vergata", ITAxel-Cyrille Ngonga Ngomo, Universitaet Leipzig, DEBarry Smith, State University of New York at Buffalo, USABoris Villazon-Terrazas, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, ESChristiane Fellbaum, Princeton University, USAChristophe Roche, Université de Savoie, FRDavid Osumi-Sutherland, University of Cambridge, UKFabian Neuhaus, National Institute of Standards & Technology, USAFrancky Trichet, Université de Nantes, FRGerman Rigau, The University of the Basque Country, ESGiancarlo Guizzardi, University of Trento, ITIrene Celino, CEFRIEL, ITJacek Kopecky, Open University, UKJouni Tuominen, University of Helsinki, FILuigi Selmi, Okkam, ITLuis Manuel Vilches Blázquez, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, SPMarcello Leida, EBTIC, UAEMarco Rospocher, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, ITMathias Brochhausen, University of Arkansas of Medical Sciences, USAMiguel-Angel Sicilia, University of Alcalá, ESNikos Loutas, University of Macedonia, GRPatrice Seyed, University at Buffalo, USARichard Cyganiak, National University of Ireland, IERoberta Cuel, University of Trento, ITStefan Schulz, Medizinische Universitaet Graz, ATWilliam Hogan, University of Arkansas of Medical Sciences, USAZoltan Miklos, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, CH
