Special Issue on Data Intensive Computing

Journal of Internet Services and Applications, Springer

    Synopsis

Data intensive computing has become the fourth paradigm for scientific discovery. Recently data-intensive computing has attract research focus made significant progress in various aspects, such as hardware architectures, runtime systems and OS level support, programming models and middleware, parallel I/O and storage system, and applications. This special issue is seeking original unpublished research articles that summarize the research advances of data-intensive computing, identify research challenges, and point out future research directions of data-intensive computing.

    Interested Topics

The special issue will primarily encompass theoretical and practical solutions that advance the research in data intensive high performance computing. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

    - Concepts, models, challenges, and reviews of data-intensive computing

    - Data intensive supercomputer architecture

    - Compiler, runtime environment and system level support for data-intensive computing

    - Programming models, paradigms and frameworks in data-intensive computing

    - High performance and Parallel I/O

    - Large-scale data storage and parallel file systems

    - Network architecture, protocol and management in data-intensive computing

    - Data management in data-intensive computing

    - System model and performance optimization in data intensive computing

    - Resilience and fault tolerance in data-intensive computing

    - Semantic and metadata management in data-intensive computing

    - Security, privacy and trust management in data intensive computing

    - Real-time and streaming data-intensive computing

    - Energy-aware and sustainable data-intensive computing

    - Data-intensive computing applications, experience and lessons

    - Discussion and future directions of data-intensive computing

    Paper Submission

All papers submitted to this Special Issue must use the Springer online submission system found at https://www.editorialmanager.com/jisa. The submission must include a cover letter, abstract, manuscript, figures and/or tables. Please refer to the Guide for Authors link on the journal

home page: http://www.springer.com/computer/communication+networks/journal/13174. Submitted paper is recommended not to exceed 15 pages in the JISA two-column format.

    Paper Selection

Each submitted research paper will be reviewed by at least 3 reviewers. A two round review process will be implemented to: (a) provide authors the opportunity of a rebuttal to any concerns raised by the reviewers and (b) ensure that each research paper is completely and thoroughly reviewed.

Manuscripts will be reviewed and judged based on the topic relevance, technical and logical correctness, research innovation, writing style, clarity, accuracy and readability.

    Important Dates

    - Paper submission: June 30, 2012

    - Initial notification: Sep. 30, 2012

    - Camera-ready version due: Oct. 30, 2012
