    Call For Papers - CFP

special issue on "Computational Awareness" in the

International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics (Springer).

The goal of computational awareness (CA) is to

realize awareness in computing machines. Awareness

is the ability to perceive, to feel, or to be conscious of

events, objects or sensory patterns. It may not lead

directly to full comprehension. Awareness often

implies vigilance in observing and alertness in

drawing inferences from what one experiences.

Compared with computational intelligence (CI), the

goal of CA is less ambitious. Nevertheless, CA could

be more important for solving practical problems. We

think awareness is the bridge between perception and

cognition. Without being aware, a system may never

become intelligent. Moreover, awareness could make

computation towards the goal of CA more efficient

    by shedding of irrelevant possibilities.

In the last two decades, CA has been studied

mainly from an engineering perspective. To create

real aware systems, however, studying different

applications in an ad-hoc manner is not enough. We

need to study all kinds of CA related problems in a

unified framework, gain more insight about aware

systems and the mechanism of awareness existing in

different living beings. The goal of this special issue

is to provide an opportunity for researchers,

engineers, and scientists to publish their latest results

related to CA. The topics of interest include, but are

    not limited to the following:

    О Awareness mechanism and modeling

    О Awareness ontology and semantics

    О Neurocomputing

О Fuzzy logic and rough set

    О Granular computing

    О Agents and swarm intelligence

    О Awareness for human

    О Context awareness

    О Situation awareness

    О Intention awareness

    О Emotion awareness

    О Preference awareness

    О Location awareness

    О Position awareness

    О Goal awareness

    О Risk awareness

    О Danger awareness

    О Chance awareness

    О Awareness for systems

    О Context awareness

    О Energy awareness

    О Capability awareness

    О Resource awareness

    О Fault awareness
